About the Role
NDI is looking for a Receptionist who will ensure smooth operations of the reception area including operation of switchboard and greeting of staff and visitors. Position hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Your Purpose and Impact:
- Operate a multi-line telephone system and route calls to appropriate parties. Maintains an up to date telephone directory. Assists in location of staff and making meeting announcements by using an all-office paging system.
- Professionally greets visitors and staff, answering any questions and providing directions as needed. Alerts staff of visitors. Liaises with building security to approve visitor entry, and confirm they are fully vaccinated.
- Administers hoteling locker reservations and maintains up to date records of assignments
- Ensure the reception area is tidy, presentable and the necessary materials (PPE, stationary supplies, etc.) are available.
- Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk. Secures 8th floor lobby area at the close of business.
- Ensures the Office Management team is notified in a timely manner of all packages arriving to the front desk for delivery.
- Provides assistance and support as needed on special projects to the Front Office.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience as a receptionist.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills and professional presence to effectively interact with staff and visitors.
- Attention to detail, with a propensity to complete work accurately with a focus on quality.
- Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong sense of cultural awareness.
- Ability to interpret equipment manuals and other similar documents.
- Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications; knowledge of Google Suite tools preferred.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to maintain professional dress code during work hours.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

This position offers an anticipated salary range of approximately $23.13 - $27.75.
Additional Information:
While there may be flexibility for remote/hybrid work environment and to comply with tax and legal obligations, successful candidates must be residents of MD, DC, or VA, or relocate prior to the start of employment at NDI.
This is a union position to be represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 2.
