Salary: $21.08 - $22.14/ hour (depending on position and qualifications)

Mile High Early Learning has an opening for a classroom Staff Aide Floater for our Westwood/Blossom House center locations in Denver.

Position Summary: Assist in the planning, organizing and delivery of a developmentally appropriate early care and education program based on the individual cognitive, motor, social and emotional needs of children enrolled. Support the classroom teachers of multiple centers in managing the classroom to create a positive, healthy and safe learning environment.

This position may serve as a floating staff member for multiple center locations in the classroom or the kitchen as needed. This position may stand-in by covering regular classroom staff breaks and absences, may or may not be assigned one particular classroom or age group. May substitute in the classroom or in the kitchen. Assist classroom teacher in carrying out the classroom education program, offering individualized help as needed to children. Overtime may be required on evenings or weekends based on Agency needs.

Standard Job Functions

  • Use age-appropriate conflict resolution skills to assist children with learning to resolve their own conflicts
  • Identify child abuse and report situations to appropriate center or Agency personnel according to Agency and State reporting requirements
  • Engage in on-going training to maintain State of Colorado Licensing level and Agency requirements (may include evening or weekend in-service)
  • Maintain confidentiality related to all aspects of the parents / children enrolled and employee information as defined by the Agency, State of Colorado and Federal regulations.
  • Effectively resolve conflict; remain calm in a very busy or emergency situation
  • Maintain professional working relationships with parents, co-workers, staff and community agencies
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Position Qualifications / Certificates / Licenses:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Pass CBI background check and post-employment medical examination
  • Compliance with other regulatory requirements as applicable
  • Early Childhood Professional Credential (ECPC) Level 2

Desired Qualifications / Skills / Licenses / Certifications:

  • Meets Colorado Department of Human Services Group Leader Qualifications
  • Universal precaution certification
  • 6 ECE credits
  • Bilingual or basic understanding of Spanish

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Safely lift a child or children with total weight of 50 pounds
  • Conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking and moderate sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, twisting, and reaching on a frequent basis.
  • Stands on feet:
  • Infant rooms: 25% of time
  • Toddler rooms: 50% of time
  • Preschool rooms: 60% – 70% of time
  • Sit on floor:
  • Infant rooms: extended periods
  • Toddler rooms: extended periods
  • Preschool rooms: moderate
  • Work with hands above shoulder height with a weight up to 20 pounds.
  • Work with arms extended at shoulder height with a weight up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend and kneel on the floor without assistance
  • Must be able to walk within a 4 square block of the center and lead / attend field trips within the community riding on public transportation or rental vehicle
  • Push, pull, playground equipment, art supplies, manipulate office equipment, etc.
  • Participate in routine conversation in person or via telephone and distinguish telephone, radio/pager signals, alarms and other auditory tones.
