Now Hiring: Meat and Seafood Cutter I
Cut and prepare local, thoughtfully sourced and responsibly raised meats and sustainable seafood for our customers.
Position Summary
The Meat & Seafood Cutter I is an entry level to developing role focused on learning foundational meat and seafood preparation skills while delivering excellent customer service. This role supports daily department operations through product preparation, case presentation, sanitation, and customer engagement, while building the technical skills needed to progress within the department.
This position works under the guidance of experienced cutters and department leadership and participates in structured training and skill development.
Requirements:What You'll Do
· Assist with cutting, trimming, weighing, wrapping, labeling, and stocking meat and seafood products
· Learn and follow proper knife handling, equipment use, and safety procedures
· Support the setup, maintenance, and visual appeal of meat and seafood cases
· Provide friendly, helpful service to customers in a counter service environment
· Answer basic product questions and refer advanced requests to senior cutters as needed
· Assist with special orders within current skill level
· Maintain department cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards
· Follow all food safety, health, and workplace safety guidelines
· Participate in required training related to customer service, sanitation, and safety
· Work collaboratively with team members to support efficient department operations
· Perform regular work in refrigerated and freezer environments
· Lift and carry products and supplies up to 50 pounds as required.
What We're Looking For
· Minimum Interest in learning meat and seafood cutting and preparation
· Prior food service, grocery, or customer service experience preferred
· Willingness to learn knife skills and safe equipment operation
· Comfort working with raw meat and seafood products
· Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
· Ability to follow instructions, standards, and safety procedures
· Basic math and communication skills
· Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
· Enthusiasm for working in a fast paced, team-oriented retail environment
· Interest in organic, natural, and responsibly sourced foods is a plus.
Additional Details
· Hourly, non-exempt position
· Approved pay range: $14.00–$16.00 per hour, based on experience
· Part time or full-time opportunities may be available depending on store needs
· Schedule may include opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts
