Job Description
Brief Overview: Involves working outside with your hands at the job site on a pipe crew for the installation of sewer, storm and water pipe in various weather conditions.
Educational Requirements:
Less than high school diploma
OSHA 10 hour or greater (can be obtained after employment)
Excavation and Trench Training (can be obtained after employment)
Possibly Confined Space Training (can be obtained after employment)
General Requirements:
Must be able to work Monday thru Friday and most Saturdays during peak season.
Must have a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
Must have a cell phone.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Arrive in appropriate attire and ready to work in various weather conditions.
Be physically fit and able to stand for lengthy periods of time as well as bend, twist, balance, and lift heavy materials or tools.
Basic, Social and Technical Skills:
Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying and communicate effectively with others working with you.
Ability to signal directions or warnings to others.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions to problems.
Ability to use math and science skills to solve problems.
Ability to monitor and assess your own performance and others working with you to make improvements and take corrective actions.
Actively look for ways to assist others working with you when needed and promote a team approach.
Determine what kind of tool or equipment is needed to do the job.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools and assist in repairing when
necessary.
Watch gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure equipment or tools are working
properly.
Ability to review needed materials, equipment and tools to do the work.
Ability to read and understand project plan drawings.
Ability to learn and use two-way radios, cell phone applications, and fillable forms.
Activities and Tasks:
Manually maneuver heavy pipe, and carry materials including bags of concrete, plastic pipe, grates, castings, etc.
Cut pipe using small power tools.
Able to use a sledgehammer and other small tools.
Assist the pipe layer in laying pipe.
Assist with setting up, cleaning, and packing up the pipe laser, grade rods, and other tools in the Company truck.
Climb in and out of excavations by ladder and earthen ramps.
Use hand and power tools and clean up after use.
Grade and level trenches using tamping machines and other tools.
Install silt fence.
Run errands in the Company vehicle, make sure to complete a DVIR, and clean out the truck and fuel it if at the end of the day.
Communicate any problems with the Foreman or pipe layer and communicate with the other crew members, as necessary.
Follow safety procedures located in the Company Safety Program.
Make sure any necessary safety precautions are in place before you leave the job site at the end of the day.
Complete other general labor and construction related duties as needed.

Exposure to extremely hot or cold temperatures.
Exposure to contaminants.
Exposure to loud noise levels and bright or inadequate lighting.
Exposure to hazardous equipment.
