Position Overview:
Assists the Director, Medical Staff & Administrative Services in coordinating aspects of the GHS Medical Staff Credentialing Program. Work also encompasses a variety of administrative support functions to include but not limited to answering telephone calls, use of fax machine and computer communications and providing administrative support to the executive leadership team as needed. Creates and maintains credentialing files of GHS Medical Staff. Conducts necessary research to verify credentials of medical staff applicants, by using acceptable and delineated methods. Professional development maintenance of competencies is expected of this position. Accurately records and transcribes department minutes and ensures timely follow through when warranted. Utilizes proficiency with Microsoft Office products and database entry/management with meticulous attention to detail. Exhibits high degree of responsibility with confidential and sensitive nature of responsibilities.
Position Highlights:
- Starting Rate: $15.21 + per hour (commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities:
• Works with the team to establish and complete credentialing files for new appointments and/or re-appointments following defined outline of standard verifications.
• Conducts necessary research via internet methods and/or other correspondences to verify medical staff credentials.
• Records relevant and delineated documents in database for each provider.
• Maintains confidentiality of all medical staff records to include electronic and hard copy files.
• Monitors database for pending expirations of licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance, quality metrics, etc.
• Follows up pending expirations with providers, agencies, practice managers, etc. Ensures there are no lapses in needed records.
• Prepares needed documents for appropriate signatures to complete credentialing/privileging process.
• Generates reports as requested or per policy to communicate specified data from the database.
• Prepares verification letters for other Verification Offices, following established and authorized language.
• Assists in preparing agenda for Medical Staff Committees and reviews with Director, Medical Staff & Admin. Services.
• Records and transcribes minutes to Medical Staff Committees as needed.
• Updates Meditech system with new providers credentialed through MSS department and when otherwise requested.
• Develops working knowledge of laws and statues applicable to Medical Staff Credentialing
• Develops familiarity with content of Medical Staff By-Laws, Rules and Regulations.
• Communicates relevant info to Medical Staff as directed.
• Develops knowledge of standards for Joint Commission, National Committee of Quality Assurance, as well as state and federal regulations pertaining to medical staff credentialing
• Prepares for Joint Commission or other agency review. Assists Director, Medical Staff & Admin. Services in presentation to review panel as directed.
• Collaborates with the Director, Medical Staff & Admin. Services in maintaining tracking tool and record of medical staff quality and educational data (I.e., OPPE, FPPE, CME etc.)
• Assists with Medical Staff Event planning and execution when directed.
• Apprises Director of Medical Staff Services of any identified issues or resource needs.
• Supports Director of Medical Staff Services with all other aspects of the MSS & Administration department, i.e., physician recruitment, orientation, locum scheduling, retention and relations.
• Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Medical Staff Services, Senior Leadership or Medical Staff Leadership.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience with healthcare credentialing/privileging or Human Resources application processing/verification
Associate's degree in Business Administration preferred
Proficiency with MD-Staff Software and Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office Applications preferred.
