Job Description

ADVFN Group is a global group of companies with operations in multiple countries.

This role will be positioned under The Market Link – which is the capital markets marketing and investor acquisition division of the global group which drives the success behind group platforms - InvestorsHub (US), ADVFN (UK), Stockhouse (Canada) and HotCopper (Australia).

We help public companies connect with active retail investors through digital campaigns, content, sponsorships and data-driven programs. Millions of retail investors use our platforms, and issuers pay us to reach them.

We work hard, move fast and genuinely enjoy what we do.

The specific group entity you'll be employed by will be confirmed at offer stage based on your location.

The Opportunity

Your job is to find public companies worth talking to and get them on the phone.

This is a phone-first role. You will work alongside our senior closers, generating the meetings that turn into revenue, and you are paid on the revenue you help create rather than on meeting counts.

You will not be micromanaged. You will also know exactly what your numbers are, every week, because that is fairer to both of us.

What The Day Actually Looks Like

60 to 80 touches a day. Calls and email, run through structured cadences in Salesforce and Outlook. That number is not aspirational, and it is not a stretch goal. It is the job.

But volume alone will not work in this market. Our buyers are CEOs, investor relations officers, VPs of corporate communications and other C-suite decision makers at public companies. They are pitched constantly and they can spot a mail merge from the subject line. So the other half of the job is doing the homework: knowing what a company raised, when, who advised them and what they are actually trying to fix, before you ever pick up the phone.

No spray-and-pray. The people who succeed here run high volume and high quality, and getting good at both is what turns this seat into a career.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain the US target list: newly listed companies, recent capital raises, companies running IR campaigns and the agencies that run them
  • Research each account properly before you touch it
  • Run structured outbound sequences across phone, email and LinkedIn
  • Break through gatekeepers with confidence and professionalism
  • Set qualified meetings with CEOs, IROs, VPs and the other decision makers who actually own the marketing budget, and hand them over with real context rather than just a calendar invite
  • Sit in on the discovery calls you generate. This is how you learn the business, and it is also how you get paid
  • Keep Salesforce clean. Pipeline accuracy is part of the job, not admin around the edges
  • Occasionally attend industry events or conferences

Compensation

  • Base: $60,000, reviewed at 12 months against defined attainment
  • Variable Pay/Incentive Compensation Plan (“ICP”)– set annually at end of financial year - June. For reference the current financial year ICP from July 2026 to June 2027
    • Monthly meeting bonus: $50 for every held meeting above 10 in a month, $75 for every meeting above 15 and $100 for every meeting above 20. This resets every month and it is ongoing, not a ramp incentive. A month at 20 held meetings pays $625; a month at 25 pays $1,125
    • Commission: 2.5% of any cash contract closed where you generated the meeting and sat on the discovery call. 1% on equity-settled deals, paid on what the shares actually sell for rather than booked contract value. This is a share of the closer's commission on that deal, so you and the closer are pulling in exactly the same direction on every file you work together
    • Meaning On-target earnings: $80,000 to $95,000, uncapped, with real upside as the territory matures

A held meeting means the prospect showed up. A booked meeting that no-shows does not count, which is deliberate: it keeps the incentive on qualifying properly rather than filling a calendar.

Two things we want to be straight with you about. Your commission is tied to closed revenue, not activity, so that portion lags the work by a quarter or two at the start. The monthly meeting bonus exists precisely so you are earning from month one rather than waiting on someone else's sales cycle. And equity commission is paid on realized proceeds, so it arrives later and the amount depends on the sale price. We would rather tell you that now than have you discover it in month eight.

Worth understanding what you are attached to. The closers you support are on a plan paying 10% of cash contracts, uncapped, so the deals you help create are worth real money to everyone involved. Your commission is not tied to any single closer, which means every qualified meeting you generate for anyone on the team pays you.

What You Bring

Required

  • 1 to 3 years in an SDR, BDR or inside sales role, ideally B2B with a considered sales cycle
  • Genuinely comfortable on the phone. Cold calling is the core of this role, every day
  • Real interest in public markets. You do not need a finance degree, but you should be able to explain what an IPO is and why a small-cap company would want more retail shareholders
  • Excellent written English. Our buyers are sophisticated readers and a sloppy email ends the conversation
  • Organized enough to run 60 or more active accounts through structured cadences without dropping any
  • Resilience. Most calls do not go well. That is the job, not a sign it is going badly
  • Comfort with everyday tools: Outlook, Excel, Teams, Google Drive, Zoom
  • Reliable and effective working remotely

Nice to have

  • Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, ChatGPT or comparable tools
  • Exposure to financial services, fintech, IR, PR or financial media
  • Any securities coursework, though none is required

A note on how we work

We operate a fully disclosed model in every market. Our US campaigns carry paid content disclosure and we expect everyone on the commercial team to understand why that matters. If your outbound experience involves promotional claims about share prices or anything resembling stock promotion, this is not the environment for you.

Where This Goes

This is one of the few entry points into capital markets that does not require a finance degree or a license.

You will be mentored daily by senior sellers who have spent years selling into public companies and who still prospect every day themselves. Within a year you will understand how companies list, how they raise money, why they care about their shareholder base and how the investor relations industry actually works. That knowledge is portable, rare and the reason people build long careers in this sector.

The path from here is explicit: BDA, then Business Development Executive carrying your own quota. We are building the US market from the ground up, and the people who get in at the start of a build tend to do well out of it.

Time Off

10 days paid vacation to start, accruing from your first day

15 days at your 3 year anniversary, then a further 5 days each year after that

30 days maximum at your 6 year mark

• Recognized US public holidays

Worth noting what that curve says. It keeps growing to year six because we are hiring for a career here, not a season.

How We Work

  • Remote-first, hours aligned to US markets. You work from a desk at home and sell across the country
  • Flexible around conferences, events and roadshows
  • High trust, high accountability
  • A six month introductory period applies
  • Clear goals, honest feedback and real support
  • You are encouraged to speak up, share ideas and take initiative

Process

We keep this short. Three conversations, no homework.

1. Introductory call, 20 minutes

2. Hiring manager interview, including a live phone exercise. We give you a real US-listed company and a scenario, and you make the call. We are not looking for polish, we are looking for whether you can think while talking. Nothing to prepare

3. Final conversation and references

If we both want to proceed, you get a written offer with a 30/60/90 day scorecard agreed before you sign.
