JOB SUMMARY
The Project Engineer/Manager is responsible for planning and directing all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers on complex and high-impact projects. This position ensures the successful execution of project goals by managing project scope, schedule, and budget while applying advanced technical and project management principles. The Project Engineer/Manager leads teams in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intricate designs and ensures quality control, client satisfaction, and adherence to specifications and standards. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior staff, working with finance on project costs, and maintaining key relationships with stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Project Planning and Team Leadership: Oversees and directs design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Ensures the project team is aligned with the overall project objectives and performance expectations.
• Budget and Cost Management: Manages the overall project budget, including estimating costs, personnel, and material needs. Works closely with finance to manage project invoicing and ensure costs remain within approved limits.
• Schedule Management: Oversees project schedules and ensures that proper procedures are in place for work to be completed on time. Regularly monitors progress and performance against the project plan to prevent delays or issues.
• Change Control: Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Ensures that any changes align with the overall project goals and stakeholder expectations.
• Design and Technical Oversight: Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex engineering designs. Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure they meet all established specifications and industry standards.
• Cost Estimation and Proposals: Prepares project proposals, estimates costs, and personnel requirements, and establishes timelines for project completion. Ensures accuracy and feasibility in project estimations and planning.
• Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Works closely with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Maintains strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal management to ensure effective collaboration throughout the project.
• Mentorship and Leadership: Mentors junior technical staff, providing guidance on technical and project management skills. Fosters the professional development of team members to strengthen the team’s capabilities and effectiveness.
• Quality Control and Project Records: Ensures that all technical products meet quality control (QC) standards and project specifications. Maintains comprehensive project records, including budgets, timelines, technical reports, and design documentation.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION
• Professional Engineer License (PE) required
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
