Job Description
The Protective Services Manager serves as a member of the Protective Services Command Staff and is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the Protective Services Department under the direction of the Director of Protective Services. The Manager provides leadership, guidance, coaching, performance management, and professional development for department personnel while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and healthcare security best practices.
The Manager promotes a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and service excellence by maintaining a visible leadership presence throughout the Medical Center, conducting routine departmental rounding, supporting emergency preparedness and response activities, leading or assisting with investigations, and developing collaborative relationships with hospital departments and local public safety agencies. The Manager also provides education and guidance on hospital safety, security, and workplace violence prevention while supporting the Medical Center's mission, vision, and values through ethical leadership and integrity.
The Protective Services Manager is expected to exemplify the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, accountability, fairness, and respect while serving as a positive representative of the Protective Services Department and Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The Manager is responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality regarding patient information, employee records, investigations, security operations, personnel matters, Command Staff discussions, and other sensitive organizational information. This position requires sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential departmental matters and information.
Education Requirements
Associate degree in Criminal Justice /Police Science or related field required. : Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Certification Details
• All Protective Services Department mandatory training and all levels (3) of IAHSS certification MUST be completed within 12 months of promotion or hiring.
CPR Adult, Child, Infant within first 30 days.
• Driver License Requirement:
A valid driver’s license is required to perform vehicle perimeter patrols.
Experience Requirements
Five (5) years of security or law enforcement operations management may be substituted for the educational requirements. Must be familiar with the criminal and civil statutes relevant to the security operations.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a Tennessee Armed Security Guard license, and meet one of the following qualifications:
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a CRMC Protective Services Officer or Armed Ambassador is PREFERRED.
In lieu of CRMC Protective Services Armed Officer or Armed Ambassador experience, the following experience may be considered:
• A minimum of Ten (10) Years of Leadership experience in:
• Military service
• Law enforcement
• Corrections
• Armed security
Motor vehicle violation requirements:
• No more than (2) Minor Violations or at fault accident in the past 12 months.
• No more than (3) Minor Violations in the past 3 years.
• No Major Violations in the past 3 years.
• No suspended, expired, revoked, or other status indicating the driver is not licensed.
• No one will be permitted to drive a hospital vehicle who is an inexperienced driver (less than 3 years of driving experience or unable to be insured under CRMC insurance policy).
