Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Director acts as the chief strategic partner and operational arm to the chief executive officer, translating executive vision into daily operational reality. The Business Director fosters the work of Catholic Charities by aligning everyday operational, financial, and managerial practices with Catholic Social Teaching, thereby anchoring business decisions in the Agency's charitable identity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Executes day-to-day business strategies in alignment with the Agency vision and long-term objectives; ensures that business activities are conducted in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices, and contractual constraints.
2. Coordinates the preparation and monitoring of Agency budgets; monitors and reports on consistency of revenues and expenditures with established budgetary goals and constraints; prepares reports outlining Agency revenue and expense projections and trends; supervises daily cash receipts and deposits.
3. Provides supervision of Agency client billing practices and procedures ensuring adherence to Agency guidelines and payer requirements.
4. Develops and implements Agency risk management policies and procedures under the direction of Agency administration and in cooperation with the diocesan Risk Manager.
5. Manages Agency information technology infrastructure needs (including computer hardware, databases, and software), and works collaboratively with diocesan staff.
6. Assists in the administration of Agency grants and contracts; participates in project planning and development; directs and audits expenditure of grant funding and contract operations to ensure compliance.
7. Selects and supervises assigned staff; plans and organizes work; develops and establishes work methods and standards; reviews and evaluates employee performance; executes disciplinary action.
8. Participates as an active member of the Agency's EOS process, in the evaluation of Agency services, and in strategic planning toward the accomplishment of the Agency mission; participates in the planning and execution of the Agency’s quality improvement process.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in staff meetings, staff training and development activities.
2. Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong accounting knowledge and skills. MBA or CPA desired. Three years experience in supervision and administration that includes fiscal responsibility.
2. Skills required to: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make decisions; work independently and exercise discretion while regularly managing confidential information; participate in the development of policies, and execute responsibilities in keeping with established policies, legal and contractual requirements; participate in the preparation and administration of budgets; prepare correspondence, records, reports and make presentations; establish and maintain effective working relationships; direct activities and supervise assigned staff; participate in the planning and evaluation of Agency programs and services.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This is an exempt, full-time, in-person position based at our office in Charlotte, NC. Responsibilities involve travel and work beyond the regularly scheduled workday.
