Job Description

Temporary Order Management Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Temporary Order Management Specialist based in the United States.

This temporary role offers the opportunity to support the day-to-day order management needs of major retail customers in a fast-paced environment.
You will help ensure customer orders are accurate, complete, and processed efficiently from purchase order through shipment.
The position works closely with Sales, Planning, Production, Finance, IT, Shipping, and Distribution Center teams.
You will play an important role in identifying supply constraints, resolving order discrepancies, and keeping customer commitments on track.
The role also involves direct interaction with retail partners and supporting the onboarding of new customer accounts.
This is a fully remote opportunity for a professional who can work an Eastern Time schedule and thrive in a highly collaborative setting.
The assignment is expected to begin around October 1 and continue for approximately seven months.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage daily order activity and customer relationships for retail accounts, taking into consideration replenishment cycles, promotions, line resets, and other factors that influence demand.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to coordinate customer requirements and ensure orders can be fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Communicate directly with retail partners regarding order status, updates, discrepancies, and other order-related matters.
  • Investigate inconsistencies between customer purchase orders and ERP data, determine appropriate corrective actions, and ensure issues are resolved.
  • Review inbound EDI orders for accuracy and completeness, and accurately enter and validate purchase orders for non-EDI customers.
  • Collaborate with Production and Planning teams to identify and manage inventory constraints and supply shortages affecting domestic and direct-import orders.
  • Work with Sales and Planning to develop action plans when customer demand cannot be fulfilled as originally requested, including modifying orders to reflect available and shippable products.
  • Partner with Distribution Center and Shipping teams to resolve shipment-related issues such as shortages, routing changes, and order modifications.
  • Monitor updates to customer routing guides, assess their impact on order and shipment processing, communicate required changes to relevant departments, and follow up on implementation.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Finance, and IT regarding new account status and customer-related requirements.
  • Lead domestic kickoff meetings for newly onboarded customers to align internal teams with customer expectations and operating requirements.
Requirements:
  • Previous wholesale experience supporting or partnering with major retail accounts is required.
  • Familiarity with major retailer websites, portals, and ordering systems is essential.
  • Experience working with ERP systems is preferred, particularly in an order management or customer operations environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage multiple orders and issues simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to collaborate confidently with customers and internal stakeholders across Sales, Planning, Production, Finance, IT, Shipping, and Distribution.
Benefits:
  • Hourly compensation: $28.00–$32.00 per hour.
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote within the United States.
  • Schedule: Eastern Time (EST) working hours required.
  • Assignment duration: Approximately seven months.
  • Expected start date: Around October 1.
  • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting major retail accounts and complex order management operations.
  • Exposure to cross-functional teams and end-to-end customer order processes.
