This is an opportunity to design, automate, and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure in a mission-driven technology environment. You’ll work across AWS and Azure to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions for application and data hosting. The role combines hands-on engineering with automation, DevOps, security, and operational excellence. You’ll collaborate closely with customers, senior engineers, and cross-functional technical teams to turn requirements into effective cloud solutions. Your work will contribute to reusable infrastructure services, streamlined deployments, and resilient systems. The position offers remote flexibility while supporting an important healthcare and government technology program. It is well suited to a technically curious engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and continuously improving how services are delivered.
- Design, implement, and support secure, reliable, and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure, translating customer and application requirements into appropriate technical architectures.
- Develop and enhance standardized, reusable infrastructure services and automation using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible, contributing to shared modules and Git-managed repositories.
- Configure and integrate cloud compute, storage, databases, networking, identity and access management, security, monitoring, backup, and related services for application and data hosting environments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD capabilities and scripting solutions that automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments, and operational activities while reducing manual effort and improving reliability.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, networking, automation, cloud integration, and application hosting issues, working across engineering disciplines to drive complex problems to resolution.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation procedures, and security and compliance materials required to support cloud services and authorization activities.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen engineering practices and service delivery.
- Collaborate directly with customers, technical teams, and senior engineers to understand requirements, communicate solutions, and deliver infrastructure capabilities that meet business and operational needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience engineering and supporting cloud or enterprise infrastructure solutions in a professional IT environment.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, including cloud compute, storage, databases, networking, identity and access management, security, monitoring, and related services.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and automation technologies such as Terraform and Ansible, including reusable modules and shared code repositories.
- Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux system administration, including patching, monitoring, certificate management, backup, data protection, and application hosting.
- Understanding of cloud networking and security concepts such as VPCs/virtual networks, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls, IAM/RBAC, encryption, and secure connectivity.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and scripting or automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or comparable technologies.
- Ability to use cloud-native monitoring and logging tools to diagnose issues across infrastructure, operating systems, networks, automation, and hosted applications.
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
- Ability to independently deliver well-defined technical solutions while partnering with senior engineers on more complex architecture and engineering initiatives.
- Preferred experience includes cloud migrations, application hosting, containerized or data-intensive workloads, customer-facing technical delivery, and work in federal government, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated environments.
- Relevant AWS, Azure, Terraform, DevOps, or infrastructure certifications are advantageous.
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and complete the required identity and fingerprinting processes.
- Competitive estimated salary range of $129,813–$161,000 per year, depending on experience, location, and other applicable factors.
- Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week with less than 10% travel.
- Remote work arrangement, with some candidates near the customer site potentially expected to work onsite several days per week.
