Job Description

Audio Engineering Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Audio Engineering Lead based in the United States.

This is a high-impact opportunity to lead audio engineering within a fast-moving, AI-first environment at the intersection of technology, creativity, and media. You will guide a talented team while contributing directly to customer-facing audio and voice projects. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on work across voice creation, audio preparation, sound design, and production workflows. You will help customers turn creative ideas and complex requirements into polished, production-ready audio experiences. You’ll also play a key role in developing team expertise through training, best-practice guidance, and technical mentorship. The position offers significant autonomy, global collaboration, and the opportunity to shape how AI-powered audio is used by creators and media businesses worldwide.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and support a team of highly skilled Audio Engineers, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Create, refine, and iterate on custom voices using advanced voice and audio production techniques to meet customer requirements.
  • Clean, edit, process, and prepare customer-provided audio to achieve high-quality voice cloning and generation results.
  • Provide hands-on training, technical guidance, and best-practice recommendations covering audio workflows and AI-powered audio tools.
  • Participate in customer meetings and creative discussions, translating business and creative objectives into effective audio engineering solutions.
  • Act as a fractional audio engineering expert for customer workflows, helping teams optimize their production processes and achieve high-quality outcomes.
  • Apply strong judgment around voice characteristics, timbre, clarity, performance nuance, and overall audio quality.
  • Continuously refine production approaches and workflows to improve consistency, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of professional experience in audio engineering, sound design, mixing/mastering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with clients, creative teams, producers, or technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with professional Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), such as Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic Pro, or Ableton.
  • Deep understanding and practical intuition for voice characteristics, including timbre, clarity, tone, delivery, and performance nuances.
  • Strong ability to interpret ambiguous or evolving customer requirements and translate them into clear, technically sound audio and voice-design solutions.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, training, or technically guiding other audio professionals.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain technical audio concepts clearly to both creative and non-technical audiences.
  • A hands-on mindset, combining technical depth with creative problem-solving and a strong commitment to production quality.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-velocity, autonomous, globally distributed environment where impact and quality are prioritized over hierarchy and bureaucracy.
Benefits
  • Fully remote role available to professionals based in the United States, with the flexibility to work globally depending on location and arrangements.
  • Option to work from established offices in London, New York, San Francisco, or Warsaw.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of generative AI, audio engineering, and creative production.
  • Exposure to high-profile creators, media businesses, publishers, and enterprise customers.
  • Opportunity to lead a talented team while remaining deeply involved in hands-on technical and creative work.
  • Annual discretionary professional development stipend to support learning and career growth.
  • Annual discretionary stipend to meet and connect with colleagues in person.
  • Annual company-wide offsite in different international locations.
  • Monthly co-working stipend for team members who are not located near a main office hub.
  • High-autonomy, low-bureaucracy culture focused on rapid experimentation, technical excellence, and meaningful impact.
  • Opportunity to contribute to innovative AI-powered audio products and workflows used at significant global scale.
