POSITION TITLE: CNC Mill Machinist I, II, III - Overnight Shift

HOURLY PAY RANGE:

  • CNC Mill Machinist I: $22.00/hr – $36.00/hr + $3.00/hr overnight shift differential, based on experience
  • CNC Mill Machinist II: $25.00/hr – $36.00/hr + $3.00/hr overnight shift differential, based on experience
  • CNC Mill Machinist III: $29.00/hr – $38.00/hr + $3.00/hr overnight shift differential, based on experience

SHIFT HOURS: 10:00 pm- 6:30 am

LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY


JOB SUMMARY: The CNC Mill Machinist programs, sets up, and operates CNC milling machines along with a variety of other machine tools. Working from part prints, process sheets, quality documentation, and CAD models to produce precision components to print. The CNC Mill Machinist promotes a work environment that is positive, safe, seeks to continuously improve, and is focused on meeting the goals and objectives of the organization.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Level I

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Read and understand part drawings and basic GD&T.
  • Operate CNC 3 Axis Milling machine.
  • Change tooling, adjust tool lengths, and tool offsets with minimum supervision.
  • Conduct in-process inspection of components to ensure conformity to quality requirements using precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform accurate and timely job tasking, line clearance, and production reporting of work orders.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment.

Level II

  • All essential functions of Level I
  • Review complex drawings and GT&D.
  • Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths using MasterCam.
  • Troubleshoot complicated process issues independently.
  • Support training of Level I Machinist and Operators.
  • Work independently and in a team environment.

Level III

  • All essential functions of Level II
  • Program, set-up, run parts, inspect, and make adjustments to produce conforming parts with no supervision.
  • Write and implement Macros.
  • Work closely with Engineering on projects, designs, and process improvements.

Senior

  • All essential functions of Level III
  • Mentor new employees and evaluate training requirements to meet KPI targets.
  • Recommend and research new machines, software, and capabilities.
  • Work closely with Engineering during new product development and product enhancement projects.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Level I

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of trade school preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ CNC machine operation experience preferred.

Level II

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of trade school preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience programming and operating CNC 3 Axis Milling machine required.

Level III

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of trade school preferred.
  • 6+ years’ experience programming and operating CNC 3 Axis Milling machine required.

Senior

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of trade school preferred.
  • 8+ year’s experience programming and operating CNC 3 Axis Milling machine required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Level I

  • Basic shop math skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.

Level II

  • Knowledge of SPC preferred.
  • Good knowledge of GD&T.
  • Basic MasterCam experience preferred.
  • Able to run variety of shop equipment.
  • Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals.

Level III/Senior

  • Advanced MasterCam experience required.
  • Capable of writing complex multi axis programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T.

  • Some heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to eight hours per day in a manufacturing environment.
  • Regularly required to talk and/or hear, see, handle, reach, see color, and perform repetitive motion.
  • Occasional travel required
