The Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for managing and recording all incoming donor funds, ensuring accurate accounting of donations and other revenue sources. This role plays a critical part in maintaining strong internal controls, accurate donor records, and clean, efficient systems. coding, posting deposits, and processing cash receipts from donors.

essential duties
Cash Receipts & Deposits
- Prepare and process daily deposits, including checks, cash, ACH/EFT transactions, and online donations.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of deposits to the general ledger and donor systems.
- Reconcile deposits to bank statements and donor records.
- Track receivables and follow up as necessary for timely payments.
Accounts Receivable &Revenue Posting
- Post cash receipts and EFT transactions with accurate accounting codes
- Ensure revenue is recorded in compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Track and resolve discrepancies between bank records, general ledger, and donor systems.
- Support the month-end close activities and receivables.
Donor Records & Systems Management
- Create and maintain donor records in Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM systems
- Generate and maintain lists, reports, and revenue summaries.
- Ensuring gifts are properly coded to campaigns and funds.
- Partner with Development to ensure accurate donor acknowledgments and reporting.
Systems Improvement & Cleanup
- Identify and help resolve data inconsistencies or historical issues in donor and accounting systems.
- Assist with process improvements to streamline cash receipts and receivable workflows.
- Support system clean-up efforts, documentation of procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in system upgrades, data audits, or process redesigns as needed.
Compliance Support
- Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Assist with reporting or restricted fund reconciliation, as applicable.
- Provide support to Finance and Development teams as needed
- Perform other related accounting activities as assigned.

a. Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in general accounting and accounts receivable.
- Non-profit experience preferred.
- Experience processing casher receipts, deposits, and EFT transactions.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.
b. Additional Requirements
- Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.
- Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).
- Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business, must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.
- Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
