As Director, External Relations, you will own and execute global public relations and analyst relations strategies, ensuring consistent positioning and strong market presence. You will act as a trusted advisor to leadership, manage external partnerships, and create communications programs that support business objectives and industry recognition.
- Develop and execute comprehensive global PR strategies, including executive thought leadership, product announcements, corporate milestones, and brand storytelling.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with technology journalists, editors, media outlets, and industry influencers.
- Lead analyst relations programs by developing engagement strategies with key industry analysts and research organizations.
- Manage participation in major industry evaluations, reports, and market assessments, coordinating input across Product, Sales, Marketing, and leadership teams.
- Serve as a strategic communications partner to executives by preparing messaging, briefing materials, talking points, and media preparation.
- Oversee the creation of press releases, articles, bylines, opinion pieces, pitches, and other external communications assets.
- Manage PR and analyst relations agencies, ensuring alignment with strategy, performance expectations, and business goals.
- Track communications performance, analyze earned media impact, and use insights to continuously improve external engagement strategies.
- Develop crisis communications plans and support responses in collaboration with legal and executive stakeholders.
- Manage and mentor an External Relations team member, supporting growth, performance, and professional development.
- Create scalable processes, playbooks, reporting frameworks, and operational structures for a growing communications function.
- Partner with Marketing, Product, Sales, and People teams to align external narratives with company priorities.
- Represent the organization at conferences, industry events, analyst meetings, and relevant external engagements.
The ideal candidate is an experienced communications leader with a strong background in public relations, analyst relations, and strategic storytelling within technology or B2B environments. You should have demonstrated success building global communications programs, influencing senior stakeholders, and managing complex external relationships.
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, and analyst relations.
- 3–5+ years of experience operating at a senior manager or director level.
- Proven experience leading both PR and analyst relations programs, preferably within B2B technology, SaaS, staffing, or professional services organizations.
- Strong relationships with relevant technology media outlets and industry analyst communities.
- Experience managing analyst evaluations such as Gartner Magic Quadrants, Forrester Waves, MarketScapes, or similar industry reports.
- Demonstrated experience managing external agencies and direct reports.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling narratives.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
- Data-driven mindset with experience measuring communications impact and improving programs through insights.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global, remote environment with a high level of ownership and autonomy.
- Willingness to travel periodically for industry events and team gatherings.
