Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Director of Operations or Owner's Appointee

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, dependable Maintenance Technician to support a group of Dairy Queen® franchise locations throughout Southeast Ohio and West Virginia. This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, organized, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining restaurant facilities and equipment to ensure our stores provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our guests ("Fans") and our crews. This role requires the ability to prioritize work, manage a flexible schedule, and respond to emergency maintenance situations when necessary.

The schedule is primarily daytime Monday through Friday; however, evenings, weekends, and after-hours work may occasionally be required for emergencies or when maintenance must be completed outside of business hours. The position may also include maintenance tasks at other company-owned properties unrelated to Dairy Queen operations.

A company work van, tools, and necessary equipment are provided.

Essential ResponsibilitiesFacility & Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on restaurant equipment and facilities.
  • Complete monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual preventative maintenance assignments.
  • Conduct regular interior and exterior inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  • Repair or coordinate repairs involving:
  • Building systems
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical (within ability and training)
  • HVAC filter replacement and basic maintenance
  • Landscaping and exterior appearance
  • General carpentry
  • Painting
  • Parking lots and sidewalks
  • Anticipate equipment failures and perform preventative maintenance whenever possible.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Maintain organized records of completed work and submit required reports on time.
Operational Support
  • Work closely with Store Leaders to minimize downtime.
  • Complete repairs efficiently while minimizing disruption to restaurant operations.
  • Recommend improvements that increase equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working order.
Team Support & Leadership

Although this is not a management position, the Maintenance Technician is expected to demonstrate leadership through professionalism and example.

Responsibilities include:

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Mechanical Skills
  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, refrigeration, restaurant equipment, or related trades.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Willingness to learn Dairy Queen equipment and systems.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple repair projects.
  • Strong time management.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance documentation.

Performance ExpectationsEquipment Repairs
  • Emergency repairs: within 24 hours
  • Non-emergency repairs: within 7 calendar days
Facility Repairs
  • Emergency repairs: within 24 hours
  • Non-emergency repairs: within 7 calendar days
Reporting
  • Daily maintenance reports submitted within 2 business days after each pay period.
  • Preventative maintenance reports submitted within 5 calendar days after the end of each reporting period.
Spending Authority

Authorized to purchase parts and materials up to $500.

Purchases exceeding this amount require approval from the Director of Operations or Owner's Appointee.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to:

  • Lift and move up to 150 pounds
  • Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work on ladders
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Work in hot, cold, and confined spaces
  • Safely operate company vehicles
  • Safely operate power tools and maintenance equipment
  • Work around food allergens, including tree nuts and peanuts
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations when necessary
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to travel regularly between multiple restaurant locations throughout Southeast Ohio and West Virginia.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays when business needs require.
