About the role
We are hiring an Assistant Store Manager for our flagship CocoNene location at International Market Place in the heart of Waikīkī — one of the busiest, highest-energy stores in our company.
This is not typical retail. Our team blends hospitality, product knowledge, and focused guest service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. As an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll help lead a team that guides guests to meaningful, locally made products while representing Hawai‘i artists with warmth, professionalism, and pride.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely connects with our story, takes pride in our local roots, and wants to help carry that story forward through their leadership.
Pay: $60k base salary + bonusesFull-Time Benefits: Medical, 401k, PTO, employee discount across all sister brands
What you'll do
As an Assistant Store Manager, you will:
Lead by example on the sales floor, welcoming guests with warmth, aloha, and professionalismModel authentic product storytelling and represent Hawai‘i-made products and local artists with pride Reinforce and coach authentic product knowledge (not scripted) across the team Participate in management training meetings, monthly sales rallies, and required off-site meetings Support and coach the team in real time to deliver consistent, high-quality guest experiences Help guide guests through personalization and meaningful gift selection when needed Maintain store readiness, visual standards, and an inviting environment throughout the daySupport daily store operations including opening/closing, cash handling, deposits, and task execution Assist with inventory control by receiving deliveries, monitoring stock levels, and maintaining organized backstock Support store goals by managing floor flow, coverage, and performance focus during shifts Act as a communication and support bridge between the Store Manager and the team Communicate with internal departments (such as production, inventory, visual, or leadership partners) to support store needs, resolve issues, and keep operations running smoothlyUphold and reinforce a positive, collaborative team cultureProactively take on responsibilities that support the team, the store, and the guest experienceThis role is for someone who enjoys leading people, supporting performance, and keeping the store running smoothly, not just managing tasks.
Qualifications
Must-have:
Ownership mindset with a proactive leadership stylePrevious leadership or management experience required (keyholder, shift lead, supervisor, or similar)Previous experience in a high-volume, hospitality-driven, or guest-facing environment requiredComfortable supporting store goals and driving performance improvementStrong floor presence with the ability to lead by example Reliable follow-through with clear, respectful communication Coaching mindset with a people-first approachOperational awareness, including inventory control and daily store operationsTechnologically competent and comfortable working in digital systems, including POS, inventory management, email communication, and shared trackers or documentsGrowth-minded and motivated by continuous improvement and supporting store goalsAlignment with CocoNene values and pride in representing Hawai‘i-made productsThis role requires prior leadership experience and strong ownership. Comfort operating in a fast-paced, technology-supported retail environment is essential. Other skills will be supported and developed in role.Availability & Requirements:
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and late hours Ability to commit to a full-time leadership schedule of approximately 40–50 hours per week(International Market Place is open 365 days; shifts currently range from 8am–10pm) High school graduate or equivalentNice-to-have:
Experience working in a tourist-heavy or international guest environment Familiarity with inventory processes such as receiving, replenishment, or countsComfort using shared digital tools (POS systems, email, spreadsheets, or task trackers) Experience providing real-time coaching or feedback on the sales floorFamiliarity with sales metrics or daily performance goalsBackground in a hospitality-driven, values-based, or locally made brandConversational JapaneseHow Success Is Measured:
