Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically inclined Asset & Auction Coordinator to support our growing machinery sales and auction operations. This role is critical in documenting, organizing, marketing, and managing industrial equipment for sale and auction. You will work closely with equipment owners, buyers, auction managers, appraisers, and sales professionals to ensure machinery is accurately identified, photographed, marketed, and tracked throughout the sales process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Documentation & Inventory: Identify diverse industrial machinery, accurately record technical specifications, and maintain asset records.
  • Photography & Marketing: Take high-quality photos/videos of equipment and prepare listings for online sales and auctions.
  • Auction & Sales Support: Assist with lotting, open-house inspections, buyer communications, and auction timelines.
  • Equipment Research: Gather detailed technical specifications, historical pricing, and valuation data.
  • Operations Support: Organize asset files, clean and maintain showroom/warehouse spaces, and coordinate rigging/shipping logistics.
  • Prep Work: Safely prepare, clean, and stage machinery for sale, auction, or inspection.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • Forklift Experience: Proven experience operating forklifts, including safely moving large, heavy industrial machinery.
  • Machine Shop Knowledge: Hands-on CNC machining or machine shop experience with strong knowledge of machine tools and basic operations.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical background with the ability to accurately identify industrial equipment and tooling.
  • Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills for data entry and drafting online equipment listings.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail when recording machinery specifications, serial numbers, and physical condition.
  • Travel & Licensing: Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel regionally (Midwest and surrounding states). Overnight travel is rare, typically only a few times per year.

Preferred:

  • Auction Experience: Prior experience with auction lotting, cataloging, or used equipment sales.
  • Technical Background: Machine repair, maintenance background, electronics knowledge, or familiarity with CNC controls (Haas, Fanuc, Siemens, etc.).
  • Logistics & Media: Rigging and machinery moving experience, along with photography or digital marketing skills.

  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and tasks.
  • Collaboration: Clear communication style with a teamwork-first mindset alongside sales, auction, and customer service teams.
  • Problem-Solving: A curious, research-driven mindset dedicated to accurately documenting unique machinery.
  • Professionalism: High reliability and professional demeanor during customer-facing interactions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Comfort standing, walking, bending, and climbing around heavy machinery in a warehouse or active manufacturing environment for extended periods.
