Job Summary:

As a Facility Services Plumbing Technician, you’ll take charge of plumbing service work, repairs, upgrades, and installations across a diverse range of commercial facilities. This position blends technical skill with leadership, giving you the opportunity to plan, install, diagnose, and repair complex systems while ensuring top-notch quality and safety.

You’ll not only tackle hands-on work but also guide small projects, collaborate directly with clients, and mentor assistant technicians, helping shape the next generation of plumbing professionals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Service & Repair: Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial plumbing systems (water lines, drainage, fixtures, pumps, valves) using diagnostic tools and inspection equipment; ensure compliance with codes and quality standards.
  • Installation & Renovation: Install plumbing systems during upgrades or remodels; accurately read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Leadership & Communication: Mentor apprentices and assistant techs; communicate effectively with clients; maintain accurate service records.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow OSHA and company safety protocols; proactively correct hazards; maintain current Master Plumber license.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with technicians and assist with non-plumbing tasks as needed; lead and support team members on projects.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must hold a valid Master Plumber license (Kansas or transferable)
  • Minimum 3+ years commercial plumbing experience, including service or remodel work required.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Current Master Plumber license in Kansas or equivalent transferable credentials.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing commercial plumbing systems.
  • Proficient with plumbing tools, diagnostic equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for mentoring and client interaction.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards in all work environments.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.

Work Environment:

  • Regional travel required—mostly day trips, with occasional overnight stays (typically 2–4 nights per week).
  • Flexible schedule for early mornings, evenings, or weekends as client needs arise.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and building types.
  • Environments include occupied schools, hospitals, and private businesses.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to do the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • Lift, push or pull materials weighing up to 80 lbs. (25 lbs. consistently)
    • Walk, bend, twist, turn, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and squat in cramped or awkward positions on a frequent basis.
    • Climb to unlimited heights on ladders or scaffolds.
    • Operate machinery that vibrates (drills, sanders, jackhammers, etc.) on a repetitive basis.
    • Perform tasks that require gross and fine hand motions and coordination.
    • Perform tasks that require clear and sharp vision.
