Position Title: Barback
Reports To: Beverage Manager
Department: Beverage
Shift: Varies
Role: The responsibility of the Barback is to assist the Bartender with the following duties: provide friendly and courteous beverage preparation and service in accordance with the established procedures, maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the bar, Prepare and mix garnishes, Stock all glassware, condiments, beer, paper products and other necessary items needed for efficient operations; and to perform job responsibilities satisfactorily and to according to department standards Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: Must have 1 year of barback experience
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and handle physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs.).
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Required:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Required Work Cards needed:
- Valid Clark County Health Card
- Valid Las Vegas Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card)
- Valid Non-Gaming Sheriffs card
Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Maintain guest focus while performing all duties and provide beverage service for guests seated at tables in the bar area.
- Assist bartenders by preparing beverage orders, garnishes, and ensuring timely service.
- Accurately record beverage orders and enter them into the POS system; operate POS to process credit cards, room charges, department charges, handle cash payments, payouts, and maintain an accurate cash bank.
- Restock and monitor inventory of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, glassware, garnishes, and supplies; replenish the bar area throughout the shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, beverage stations, side stations, and storage areas; comply with all safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Report equipment problems and bar maintenance issues promptly to management.
- Follow directions, ask clarifying questions when needed, and carry out reasonable requests from management.
- Be resourceful with beverages, fruit, and supplies to maintain low beverage costs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of food, wine, beer, spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, specialty drink recipes, glassware, and garnishes; prepare and serve beverages consistent with JW Marriott standards.
- Possess a keen sense of timing and adjust pace to meet service demands during peak and slow periods.
- Work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five hours or more).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items such as kegs and boxes of liquor up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
- Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 150 lbs.
- Requires eye/hand coordination.
- May require use of standard office equipment. (Micros System)
- May require basic math with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
