This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineer based in the United States.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, cloud architecture, and mission-critical government systems, supporting large-scale personnel vetting and security clearance operations. You will design and maintain robust, secure, and high-performance data pipelines that power adjudication, continuous vetting, and compliance workflows. Working within AWS GovCloud environments, you will help modernize legacy systems and ensure seamless data integration across complex federal ecosystems. The role requires strong technical depth, attention to data integrity, and comfort operating in highly regulated environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, DevSecOps, and security teams in an Agile setting. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape data infrastructure that directly supports national security operations.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and API-based integrations supporting enterprise and government systems.
- Develop and optimize relational databases, data models, schemas, and queries to ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Support migration efforts from legacy systems into modern AWS GovCloud-based architectures while ensuring data integrity and continuity.
- Implement data quality, validation, monitoring, and reconciliation frameworks to ensure accuracy and consistency across critical datasets.
- Collaborate with engineering, cloud, DevSecOps, and security teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automation, and secure software delivery practices.
- Maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and technical artifacts while ensuring compliance with federal standards and audit requirements.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, or data integration roles, ideally within enterprise or federal environments.
- Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or cloud-native database services.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including AWS GovCloud, and building cloud-native data architectures.
- Proven experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines, API integrations, and scalable data processing systems.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, and master data management principles.
- Experience working in Agile, DevSecOps, and CI/CD-driven environments using tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or similar.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in complex, regulated systems.
- Experience with federal compliance frameworks such as RMF, NIST 800-53, and Zero Trust architectures is highly valued.
