Job Description
Skill(s): Effective oral and written communication skills for liaising with staff, suppliers, and clients; strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage, motivate, and develop a team; demonstrated technical proficiency with experience in warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory software, and other relevant technology; strong understanding of logistics, shipping, receiving, and freight coordination; familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices, including OSHA standards; and adept in critical thinking and complex problem-solving with the proven ability to handle operational challenges.
Working Conditions: Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, push/pull and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less; and operate heavy equipment.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a warehouse environment.
General Responsibilities
The role of Warehouse Supervisor includes overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring safety and efficiency in a warehouse environment. Key responsibilities involve coordinating the storage and dispatch of goods, managing inventory, handling logistics like shipping and receiving, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Strong leadership, problem-solving,
and technical skills are essential for success.
This position is classified as safety sensitive. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including the company’s drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements. Individuals in this role are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, consistent with applicable law and company policy. Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Essential Duties
- Operations management: Oversee and coordinate all warehouse functions, including receiving, storage, and shipping of goods.
- Staff supervision: Manage and train warehouse staff, delegate tasks, and monitor performance to ensure productivity and safety.
- Inventory and logistics: Manage stock levels, conduct inventory analysis, and coordinate with transport companies to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Safety and compliance: Establish and enforce safety standards and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment in compliance with regulations.
- Efficiency and optimization: Improve warehouse efficiency by optimizing space utilization, managing budgets, and developing strategies to meet delivery deadlines and customer expectations.
- Problem-solving: Address and resolve operational issues, such as equipment failures, supplier delays, or urgent order requests, to keep operations running smoothly.
- Abide by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
- Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compile information as necessary or as directed and provide data to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
