Mainframe Systems Manager in Manhattan, New York at Manhattan, New York

CTG is recruiting a Mainframe Systems Manager for a client in Manhattan. This person will lead the mainframe systems team and provide technical direction for a large IBM mainframe environment.

Location: Manhattan, NY
Duration: Client Permanent Placement

• Manage a team of system programmers, including daily work assignments, scheduling, performance, and team goals.

• Oversee mainframe operations, monitoring, incident response, change management, and project intake.

• Plan and coordinate upgrades to mainframe processors, DASO, VTS, and related systems.

• Evaluate and implement improvements to modernize systems, automate work, tune performance, and optimize workloads.

• Coordinate projects with other technical teams, external partners, and the data center.

• Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.

• Track timelines, communicate project status, and clearly document technical issues and solutions.

• Help team members develop their technical skills and resolve issues.

• Ensure work follows the client’s technical policies, standards, and security requirements.

• Ideally, 10 or more years of experience managing mainframe systems in a medium- to large-scale enterprise environment.

• Strong knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies, including z/OS, CICS, D82, and IMS.

• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON and SMF analytics.

• Experience leading system programmers and coordinating work across storage, network, and data center teams.

• Knowledge of mainframe security and disaster recovery.

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Availability for after-hours and weekend work, with 24/7 responsiveness when required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $75,000.00 to $160,000.00 annually. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
