Water Sampling Technician – Sterile Processing Water Quality in Dallas, Texas at I-2-I Solutions, Inc.

I-2-I Solutions is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Water Sampling Technician to perform recurring water sample collection at healthcare facilities in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas.

The technician will collect Critical Water, Utility Water, and Steam Condensate samples from designated locations within Sterile Processing Service (SPS) areas. This position requires careful adherence to established sampling procedures, infection-control requirements, chain-of-custody protocols, and sample-handling procedures.

Candidates with previous experience in healthcare water sampling, sterile processing environments, environmental sampling, laboratory sample collection, or ANSI/AAMI ST108 are strongly preferred.

• Collect water samples from designated locations within healthcare facilities.
• Perform sampling of Critical Water, Utility Water, and Steam Condensate.
• Collect samples from designated points of generation and points of use.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and follow-up sampling as scheduled.
• Follow established ANSI/AAMI ST108 sampling procedures.
• Flush sampling locations for the required period before sample collection.
• Use proper aseptic sampling techniques to prevent contamination.
• Clean and disinfect sampling locations using approved procedures before collection.
• Use appropriate sterile and preserved laboratory sample containers.
• Properly label all sample containers.
• Complete chain-of-custody forms and required field documentation accurately.
• Maintain strict chain of custody from sample collection through shipment.
• Properly package samples for transportation to the laboratory.
• Maintain required sample temperatures during transportation and shipment.
• Protect samples from contamination, damage, freezing, or other conditions that could affect sample integrity.
• Immediately report any collection, shipping, labeling, or chain-of-custody problems.
• Assist with repeat sampling when required.
• Follow all facility safety, infection-control, and PPE requirements.
• Wear required protective equipment while working within Sterile Processing areas.
• Coordinate professionally with facility personnel while accessing sampling locations.
• Maintain consistent sampling procedures and locations between sampling events.

• Experience with water sampling, environmental sampling, laboratory sample collection, or a related technical field.
• Ability to follow detailed written sampling procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to properly complete chain-of-custody documentation.
• Ability to safely handle and transport laboratory samples.
• Ability to work independently and follow established schedules.
• Reliable transportation to work locations in Dallas and Fort Worth.
• Ability to work within an active healthcare environment.
• Ability to comply with healthcare infection-control and PPE requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required facility identification/badging.
• Valid, non-expired government-issued photo identification.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

• Sterile Processing Service (SPS) environments
• ANSI/AAMI ST108 water sampling
• Critical Water or RO/DI water systems
• Healthcare or hospital water sampling
• Point-of-generation and point-of-use sampling
• Steam condensate sampling
• Microbiological water sampling
• Chain-of-custody documentation
• Federal or VA healthcare facilities

The technician will work inside active healthcare facilities, including Sterile Processing areas. The position may require the use of protective clothing, gloves, face masks or shields, and foot coverings depending on the work area.

Candidates must be comfortable working around water-treatment equipment, plumbing systems, sterilization equipment, sinks, washers, Medivators/AER equipment, and other healthcare processing equipment.

Work will generally be performed Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Sampling includes recurring monthly and quarterly visits. Additional visits may occasionally be required for follow-up or repeat sampling.

The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, careful with documentation, comfortable working in healthcare environments, and understands that proper sampling technique and sample integrity are critical to producing valid laboratory results.

Experience performing water sampling in hospitals or sterile processing departments is highly desirable.
