Overview
The Outreach and Engagement Manager builds connections throughout the community, develops partnerships with community leaders and organizations, and works to promote library programs, resources, and services to create awareness and engagement with the library. This position develops and implements community engagement and outreach strategies to attract new library users and promote positive relationships with the broader community. This position oversees content development, publishes content to all promotional and social media channels, including the library website, and works with library groups on events, programs, and other initiatives that support the library’s mission. This position also oversees the Lee County Library Bookmobile and supervises the Bookmobile Specialist(s) and other positions as needed. In addition, this position may also be called upon to represent the Lee-Itawamba Library System in a public relations capacity, i.e. as a spokesperson, preparing press releases, etc. as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Central functions and responsibilities of this role include:
- Develops and implements outreach, engagement, and marketing strategies
- Represents the Lee-Itawamba Library System in public-facing outreach opportunities
- Develops promotional content and manages all promotional outlets and channels
- Oversees Lee County Library Bookmobile and other outreach and engagement activities
- Supports individual library departments with outreach and promotional activities
- Other duties as assigned

1-2 years experience managing social media and/or marketing projects
Experience supervising staff or providing successful leadership to project teams
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to foster a positive and supportive team environment among staff, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners
Proven record of excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and presentations
Expert knowledge of social media platforms, web-based communication tools, and web-based graphic design tools such as Canva
Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
