Consulting/Principal Software Engineer in India at Jobgether

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Consulting/Principal Software Engineer based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex Workday integrations and reporting solutions within a global technology environment. You will design, develop, test, maintain, and optimize integrations supporting critical HR, payroll, benefits, finance, and time-management processes. The position combines deep technical expertise with close collaboration across HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, and Talent teams. You will also help ensure secure, scalable, and well-governed Workday solutions across a broad enterprise landscape. The role provides significant exposure to Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Web Services, advanced reporting, and third-party integrations. You will contribute to continuous improvement, troubleshoot complex issues, and support major platform releases. It is well suited to an experienced Workday integration professional who enjoys solving business problems through robust technical solutions.

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and optimize Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST).
• Develop and support PECI/PICOF payroll integrations, benefits carrier feeds, and integrations with ATS, payroll, financial, time tracking, and Time & Absence systems.
• Collaborate with middleware and iPaaS teams using platforms such as Boomi, MuleSoft, or Workato when required.
• Build and maintain Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and Trending Reports using Report Writer, calculated fields, custom report fields, and RaaS.
• Develop and support Discovery Boards, dashboards, worklets, embedded reports, scorecards, and BIRT-formatted reports.
• Monitor and troubleshoot integration failures, reporting issues, scheduled-process errors, and data discrepancies, conducting root-cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Partner with HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, and Talent teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation covering data mappings, error-handling logic, support procedures, and runbooks.
• Apply Workday security and governance practices, including security groups, domain and business-process policies, and role-based access controls.
• Support SOX and audit requirements, access reviews, certifications, evidence gathering, and change-control processes.
• Assess, test, and update integrations, reports, and configurations as part of Workday's bi-annual release cycles.

Requirements:

• Approximately 4–5 years of demonstrated Workday integration development experience, or equivalent technical capability.
• Strong proficiency with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Web Services, including SOAP/REST APIs.
• Hands-on knowledge of XSLT, XML, and XPath.
• Understanding of PECI, PICOF, payroll and benefits interface patterns, the Workday Business Process Framework (BPF), and event-driven configuration.
• Experience integrating Workday with ATS, Payroll, Financials, Time & Absence, or other third-party enterprise systems.
• Strong experience with Workday reporting, including Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and Trending Reports, calculated fields, Report Writer, RaaS, Discovery Boards, dashboards, worklets, embedded reports, scorecards, and BIRT.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with the capacity to investigate complex integration and reporting issues and identify root causes.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience working in Agile or Kanban delivery environments is valued.
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is welcome but not mandatory; equivalent professional experience, training, certifications, or demonstrated expertise may be considered.
