Job Title: Host

Summary:

The restaurant host is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. It is the job of the host to greet arriving guests, welcome them into the establishment and seat them. The guests receive their first impression of the service of the restaurant by their exchange with the host.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet guests with a smile, escort them to tables and provide them with menus, silverware, booster seats, highchairs and coloring sheets (if needed)
• Take reservations and review as needed with Restaurant Manager
• During peak times, communicates to manager on headset
• Take call aheads and handle wait list
• Ensure that the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their wait times
• Moves tables together to accommodate large reservations
• Sort menus, take them off sidestands
• Ensure dining rooms and tables are neat, organized and ready to be sat
• Monitor and evaluate table seating
• Maintain a clean entry way and dining room
• Assists manager in coordinating activities of dining room personnel to ensure prompt and courteous service to guests
• Assist with entering email addresses into constant contacts
• Comment cards
• Lost and found
• Use proper telephone etiquette to answer and direct calls
• Clear communication and teamwork
• Complete sidework duties
• Adhere to company policies and procedures
• Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
• Perform other duties as assigned
