Job Description
R&D Specialist
Create Products. Inspire Creativity. Build Community.
At Stampin' Up!, we believe creativity has the power to connect people. Through thoughtfully designed, coordinating products, we help our customers express themselves, celebrate life's moments, and create meaningful experiences that strengthen community.
We're looking for an R&D Specialist who is equal parts curious, organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented. In this role, you'll help bring innovative products to life, from concept and research to testing, refinement, and launch. You'll partner with teams across the organization and work closely with suppliers to ensure our products meet the quality, functionality, and creativity standards our customers know and love.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex challenges, and can confidently navigate high-stakes conversations with both internal stakeholders and external partners. Success in this role requires balancing multiple product lines at once. Often with overlapping timelines, competing priorities, and shifting business needs. You'll need to learn quickly, remain calm under pressure, and possess exceptional situational awareness, understanding how decisions, conversations, and changes in one area can impact product strategy, timelines, suppliers, stakeholders, and the customer experience.
If you love turning ideas into products, are energized by continuous learning, and enjoy working with a team that cares deeply about creativity and community, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Live Stampin' Up!'s core values: We Care About People First, We Act with Courage, We Better Our Best, and We Own It.
- Ensure timely and accurate proofing of publications, product information, and development deliverables.
- Research, develop, and improve products through competitive analysis, market research, focus groups, product testing, and validation.
- Develop line extensions, product enhancements, and new product concepts that support our product strategy and delight customers.
- Partner cross-functionally to keep product development projects on time, on budget, and aligned with business goals.
- Support product strategy discussions and provide insights that help shape future product offerings and new product segments.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal partners to ensure successful product execution.
- Influence decisions and drive progress through collaboration, even when you don't have direct authority.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and supplier partners to ensure seamless execution throughout the product lifecycle.
- Participate in department, team, and company initiatives as assigned.
- Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously, ensuring priorities remain aligned and deliverables stay on track across overlapping timelines.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve skills, processes, products, and partnerships to drive efficiency, consistency, and product excellence.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in product development, consumer products, innovation, sourcing, manufacturing, product lifecycle management, or related disciplines.
- Experience finding new suppliers, developing children's products, or creating multi-material craft kits is a plus.
- Strong research, observation, and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- A proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
- Exceptional situational awareness and sound judgment, with the ability to anticipate downstream impacts, recognize competing priorities, read complex situations, and adjust course appropriately.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple product lines, projects, and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to confidently navigate complex or high-stakes conversations.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- A collaborative, team-first mindset balanced with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- The ability to stay composed, adaptable, and solution-focused in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to see both the details and the bigger picture, understanding how individual decisions can impact timelines, suppliers, product strategy, business objectives, and customer experience.
