School Licensed Practical Nurse in Liverpool, New York at Science Academies of NY

SANY Charter Schools is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who will provide nursing services to students under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Medical Director, or administrator. The LPN supports student health safety, and well-being during the school day.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

- Provide direct nursing care to students within the scope of the LPN license.

-Administer prescribed medications and treatments as ordered by a healthcare provider and delegated by the RN.

-Perform first aid and respond to student illnesses and injuries

-Monitor students with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders and severe allergies.

-Observe and report changes in student health status to the RN and parents/guardians as appropriate.

-Document all nursing care, medications, treatments, and health office visits accurately.

- Assist with yearly health screenings, immunization compliance and student health record maintenance.

-Maintain confidentiality of student health records and information in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA requirements.

-Ensure health office supplies and equipment are properly stocked and maintained.

-Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities.

-Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and health care providers to support student health and educational success.

-Accompany students on field trips as assigned

-Perform other duties related to student health and safety as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:

- Current New York State LPN license

-Current CPR/AED certification

-Experience working with children/ teens in a school setting is preferred

-Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with students, families and staff
