INTRODUCTION
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, equipment, and services required to support business operations. This position works closely with vendors, internal stakeholders, and project teams to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Source and procure materials, equipment, and services in accordance with company requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor quotes, pricing, and proposals.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Create, issue, and track purchase orders.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities as needed.
- Ensure purchased materials meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
- Coordinate with project managers, operations teams, and other departments regarding procurement needs.
- Resolve supplier performance issues, discrepancies, and delivery concerns.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Analyze purchasing trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and procurement procedures.
- Assist with vendor qualification and performance evaluations.
- Prepare procurement reports and provide updates to management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and purchase orders.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in the construction, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial services industry.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and procurement software.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar certification.
- Experience with contract review and vendor negotiations.
- Understanding of procurement and supply chain best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Financial and business acumen related to purchasing and cost management.
