Responsibilities
Are you ready to join the industry leader? State Farm is looking for passionate and self-driven IT students to join our Summer Internship Program! The Enterprise Technology department is involved in exploring new and emerging technologies. This program will offer you hands-on work along with real-world research and development opportunities. State Farm continues to refine and expand the use of technology for employees, agents, and customers. You will have the opportunity to influence change and help us deliver on our mission to protect State Farm and its policyholders. What You Can Expect:
- Summer Internship Dates: Wednesday, 6/1/2027 - Wednesday, 8/11/2027 (10 weeks)
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week
- As the summer program has a short duration, it is expected that hired interns will be available throughout the entire summer internship with minimal to no disruptions in their work schedule.
- Pay: $28.00/hour. In addition, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!
- Work Arrangement: Remote - Qualified candidates (outside of locations listed below) may be considered for 100% remote work arrangements based on where a candidate currently resides or is currently located. Remote interns could be asked to travel to an assigned location throughout the summer for onboarding and various events. Selected interns must reside within the continental U.S. for the duration of the summer internship.
- In Person Events, Locations, and Dates:
- Onboarding (Bloomington, IL): June 1 - June 4
- Second In-Person Week (Bloomington, Dunwoody, Richardson, Tempe subject to change)
- Senior Trip (Dec 2027/May 2028 grads) (subject to change)
- Hub Locations: Dunwoody, GA; Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ; or Bloomington, IL

Qualifications
We Are Looking For Current Full-Time College Students With:
- Seeking full-time college or university students (Freshmen, Sophomore & Juniors)
- Coursework or majors in Information Systems/IT or equivalent majors, including but not limited to Computer Science, Engineering, and related majors.
- Students with a desire to work with Mainframe skills and work for State Farm upon graduation.
- Drive and initiative to lead and affect positive change
- Leadership skills through extracurricular and professional endeavors
- Ability to thrive in a team environment, both in-person and virtual
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- A can-do attitude, and someone who loves to have a bit of fun!
- The ability to work in an environment that emphasizes information sharing, collaboration, teamwork, mutual respect, and integrity.
- Strong aptitude and desire to learn new languages and frameworks.
Seeking candidates with experience in any of the following: COBOL, PL/1, IMS, DB2, JCL, Autoflow, Assembler, SAS, DFSORT, AWS, Python
Internship Program Eligibility
- Completed High School Diploma/GED
- At least one semester of college remaining after the summer of 2027.
- The desire to work for State Farm upon graduation.
- Commitment to full participation throughout the internship period with minimal schedule disruptions
