Responsibilities

The Supervisor Radiology is responsible for overseeing daily operations and staff within the radiology department to ensure safe, high-quality imaging services and optimal patient care. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, coordinates workflow, and supports staff development to promote operational reliability and patient safety. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Required Education

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited program.

Required Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a radiologic technologist or in a related imaging role.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Valid Ohio Radiologic License issued by the Ohio Department of Health.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Skills

  • Proficiency in diagnostic imaging procedures, protocols, and safety standards
  • Knowledge of radiation safety principles and ALARA practices
  • Ability to supervise, assign, schedule, and coordinate imaging staff
  • Ability to coach, train, and mentor technologists
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and radiology information systems
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control standards.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee daily operations of the radiology department, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal resource utilization.
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate activities of radiologic technologists and support staff.
  • Provide training, orientation, and ongoing competency assessment for imaging staff.
  • Monitor imaging quality and ensure compliance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other departments to support patient care and service delivery.
  • Ensure patient safety, privacy, and comfort throughout all radiologic procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and safety initiatives.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination of repairs as needed.
  • Support inventory management and supply ordering for the radiology department.
  • Address and escalate staff or operational issues to management as appropriate.
  • Promote a culture of safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory or lead radiology role.
  • Additional ARRT certifications in specialized modalities.
  • Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) credential.
