About ACHS

American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) has been providing excellence in holistic health distance education since 1978 and is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). ACHS specializes in accredited online graduate and undergraduate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and continuing education courses in integrative medicine fields including aromatherapy, herbal medicine, holistic nutrition, and more.

Our mission is to provide leadership in holistic health education through comprehensive professional online and on-campus education and high-quality natural products with a commitment to sustainable practices and principles.

Position Description

Instructors are expected to teach material aligned with the ACHS philosophy and stated program and course learning outcomes, actively participate in class and engage in substantive interaction with students throughout each week to provide prompt feedback to students and conduct weekly virtual conferences with students (ACHS uses an integrated conference tool for seamless online meetings in class). Faculty also participate in curriculum development and are an essential part of the ACHS Center for Excellence in Teaching, Technology, and Assessment. Faculty members are expected to log into the classroom at least 6 out of 7 days and hold weekly Zoom meetings that should be recorded and posted to the classroom each week. Faculty members are also required to complete weekly reports that will be sent to their Department Chair.

Excellent online communication skills are essential, including an ability to communicate at a distance (email, discussion boards, live lessons, or phone as needed) with a variety of learner styles and post-traditional students.

Requirements:

All instructors must have:

  • A terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, ND, DO, MD), or another terminal degree as approved by the Chief Academic Officer.
  • At least two years of College teaching experience, preferably online, and subject knowledge and professional experience.
  • Experience teaching in an online learning platform such as Canvas is essential. (Angel, Moodle, and Blackboard considered).
  • Specialized certifications or industry affiliations may be required depending on specialization.

Technical Requirements:

  • A current PC or Mac at your home (minimum specs: 8 GB RAM, Windows or OSX operating system within 2 generations of the most recent, the most recent version of Google Chrome, email with attachment capabilities, and enough storage for video files and course materials (we recommend at least 200 GB).
  • High-speed internet service, with 20MBPS down and 5MBPS up.

Physical Demands

Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching.

Working Conditions

Work is performed remotely from a home office or location with secure internet.
