Steel Shipping & Loadout Supervisor
Location: Richmond, VA
Shift: 2nd Shift
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: $26.00/hour + $3.00/hour shift differential (higher pay may be available based on experience)
We are hiring a Steel Shipping & Loadout Supervisor to coordinate material shipments and guide daily loadout operations in a structural steel fabrication environment. This hands-on role focuses on safe material handling, shipment accuracy, team leadership, and on-time deliveries.
Key ResponsibilitiesDirect daily steel shipping, loading, and loadout activities.
Ensure steel materials are properly identified, secured, and ready for transport.
Check material markings, load accuracy, load tickets, and shipping documents.
Coordinate with production, logistics, and shop personnel to meet delivery deadlines.
Maintain shipping records using production and shipping software.
Train and assist team members while leading daily safety meetings.
Enforce workplace safety and quality standards.
Support workflow improvements and maintain efficient operations.
At least 5 years of experience in structural steel handling or shipping operations.
Minimum 2 years of team leadership or supervisory experience.
Hands-on experience operating overhead cranes, telehandlers, vertical mast lifts, and forklifts.
Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or comparable production and shipping software is preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
