Position Title: Production Team Lead (Paper Bag Manufacturing)

Summary:
This plant manufactures paper to-go bags for the restaurant industry, using highly automated paper converting and logo printing machinery. Your primary role will be to set up and operate the paper converting machines, ensuring consistent production while maintaining high standards of product quality and workplace safety. This role will assist with training and supervising the other Machine Operators on the assigned shift (approximately 5-7 employees).

- Hourly pay rate: Starting at $22.50/hour, but there is flexibility above that for candidates with more paper converting experience. This company offers pay increases as employees progress and qualify on additional machines and processes.
- Location: Spartanburg, SC
- This is a direct hire, full-time permanent position
- Shifts: 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift are available. All candidates will train on first shift.
- Shift schedules:
- 1st Shift is Monday – Friday from 7am-3pm
- 2nd Shift is Monday – Friday from 3pm-11pm
- 3rd Shift is Monday – Friday from 11pm-7am
Summary:
This plant manufactures paper to-go bags for the restaurant industry, using highly automated paper converting and logo printing machinery. Your primary role will be to set up and operate the paper converting machines, ensuring consistent production while maintaining high standards of product quality and workplace safety. This role will assist with training and supervising the other Machine Operators on the assigned shift (approximately 5-7 employees).
Requirements:
- Must have experience in the paper packaging, paper converting, cardboard/paperboard manufacturing, or other food packaging industries.
- Must have 3+ years of experience as a Machine Operator in a manufacturing environment.
- Team Lead experience and a strong aptitude for training and leading other team members is strongly preferred.
- Must have High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with machine set up, entering specification information, and making adjustments as needed.
- Experience carrying out minor maintenance tasks is a plus.
- Experience in a food safe certified (SQF/HACCP) manufacturing plant is strongly preferred, or experience in an FDA/CGMP regulated plant
- Previous ERP system and/or PLC data entry for machine setup experience.
- Good mechanical aptitude and a preference for hands-on work.
- An understanding of and commitment to achieving quality and efficiency targets.
- This company requires the successful completion of a background check and drug screening prior to starting the position.
Job duties:
- Assist with training and supervising the other Machine Operators on your assigned shift (approximately 5-7 people per shift).
- Perform machine setup in accordance with product specifications.
- Monitor the quality and accuracy of the customer logo printing process onto the paper bags (color, location on the bag, etc.).
- Maintain machine run speed and efficiency at target levels.
- Perform quality checks throughout the production process.
- Record production activities and actively communicate issues to supervisors.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety and PPE requirements.
- Minimize machine downtime through good manufacturing practices.
- Support team members to improve team performance.
- Ensure that all quality and food safety regulations and processes are followed.
