Job Description
About the Role
The National Fleet Logistics Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle performance of our vehicle fleet across all markets. That means procurement strategy, preventive maintenance, telematics, regulatory compliance, and cost management. This is a senior operations role with real accountability and direct visibility to executive leadership.
We are looking for someone who has experience doing this at scale. If you have held a Regional or National Operations Manager role at Amazon, or come from a Senior Fleet Director background at a carrier or 3PL like FedEx Ground, XPO, UPS Supply Chain, or Ryder, we want to talk. You know how to run uptime, cut cost-per-mile, build a compliance culture, and develop people across multiple markets without needing a playbook handed to you.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Fleet Strategy and Procurement
• Define and execute the national vehicle acquisition strategy, including lease vs. buy decisions, OEM relationships, and asset lifecycle management across all vehicle classes (cargo vans, sprinters, Class 4-6)
• Manage fleet rightsizing as markets launch, grow, or contract
Maintenance and Fleet Uptime
• Own the national preventive maintenance program, including schedules, vendor SLAs, and escalation paths, with a target of 97% or better uptime across all markets
• Build and manage national maintenance vendor relationships, including fleet service centers, tire programs, and mobile maintenance providers
• Get in front of breakdowns and unplanned downtime before they become operational problems
Telematics and Data
• Own and administer our Motive platform, including configuration, integrations, and reporting cadences across the full fleet
• Use Motive data to drive real decisions on fuel efficiency, idle reduction, route optimization, and driver safety scores, not just pull reports
• Partner with operations and tech teams to connect fleet data into broader operational visibility
Compliance and Safety
• Keep the entire fleet DOT and FMCSA compliant, including driver qualification files, HOS policy, DVIR programs, and pre/post-trip inspection standards
• Stay audit-ready at all times and manage relationships with state and federal regulatory contacts proactively
• Make safety a real part of the culture, not just a checkbox. Connect Motive safety data to coaching conversations, recognition, and accountability
Cost Management and Financial Ownership
• Own the fleet P&L across fuel, insurance, depreciation, maintenance, and acquisition, and report against budget with clear variance analysis each month
• Find and execute cost reduction opportunities in fuel programs, insurance structure, and vendor contract terms
• Present fleet financials to executive leadership in a way that drives decisions, not just informs them
Team Supervision and Leadership
• Directly supervise the Compliance Manager/Coordinator. Set their priorities, review their work, make sure DOT/FMCSA obligations are met on time, and be the escalation point when regulatory issues come up
• Directly supervise Driver Lead(s). Give them clear direction on daily driver management, coach them on performance standards, and make sure they are aligned with fleet safety and compliance expectations
• Lead regional fleet coordinators across markets, holding each one accountable to uptime, cost, and compliance targets
• Build the SOPs, training, and playbooks your team needs to execute consistently no matter what market they are in
• Support new market launches and any M&A activity by standing up fleet operations quickly.
WHAT YOU BRING
• 5 or more years of fleet or logistics operations experience, with at least 2-3 years managing at national or multi-region scope
• Background at Amazon Last Mile, Amazon Freight, FedEx Ground, XPO, UPS Supply Chain, Ryder, or a comparable high-volume carrier or 3PL is strongly preferred
• You have personally overseen a fleet of 500 or more vehicles, across multiple asset types including vans, and sprinters.
• Solid DOT and FMCSA knowledge, including hands-on experience preparing for and managing regulatory audits
• Hands-on experience with Motive or a comparable enterprise telematics platform. You configure it and use the data.
• Comfortable owning a multi-million dollar fleet budget, explaining variances to leadership, and identifying ways to improve cost-per-mile or cost-per-vehicle year over year
• Experience managing vendor relationships at scale, including OEMs, national leasing companies, fuel card programs, and insurance brokers
• A track record of building and developing fleet teams across multiple locations and time zones
• You are comfortable in a greenfield environment where the structure does not exist yet and you are the one who builds it
WHY YOU'LL WANT THIS ROLE
• You are building something. This is a greenfield fleet function. The systems, vendor relationships, team structure, and standards are yours to create. If you have spent years executing inside someone else's framework and are ready to build your own, this is that opportunity.
• You will have a real seat at the table. Direct reporting line to the COO with visibility into company strategy and decisions that matter.
• The pay is competitive. Base salary, annual bonus tied to fleet performance, and long-term incentive or equity participation for senior operators.
• Full benefits. Health, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with employer match; paid time off.
• The role grows as we grow. As we expand nationally, the fleet function and the team behind it grows with us. There is a real career path here.
The pay range for this role is:
90,000 - 100,000 USD per year(Houston, Texas)
