A Typical Day
The MSO Credentialing Lead is a Senior Medical Staff Services professional who independently manages complex credentialing, recredentialing, privileging, and related administrative functions, while providing daily functional leadership to credentialing staff.This role combines the technical duties of an experienced Credentialing Coordinator with lead responsibilities for workflow coordination, quality assurance, staff training, work prioritization, problem resolution, regulatory compliance, and process improvement.The Credentialing Lead manages an assigned credentialing workload and serves as the primary technical resource for Credentialing Specialists and Coordinators.The Lead monitors workflow and deadlines, reviews files for accuracy, assists with workload distribution, provides technical guidance, escalates concerns as needed, and ensures compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, policies, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational procedures.This position acts as a liaison between the Medical Staff Office, practitioners, Department Chairs, Medical Staff leaders, hospital departments, Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee (MEC), and other stakeholders involved in credentialing and privileging.This is a working lead role, focused primarily on technical and operational credentialing rather than full personnel management, distinguishing it from a supervisor or Manager position

To Be Considered
Required
- Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Health Information Management, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related Medical Staff Services experience
- Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible Medical Staff Services, hospital credentialing, or directly related provider credentialing experience
- Demonstrated experience independently managing initial appointments and reappointments
- Demonstrated clinical privileging experience
- Experience performing and evaluating primary source verification
- Experience preparing files for Medical Staff leadership and committee review
- Experience utilizing an electronic credentialing system
Licenses and Certifications Required
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) through NAMSS; Must obtain CPCS certification within 24-month period following appointment to the Lead position
Licenses and Certifications Preferred
- CPCS and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
Preferred
- Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Health Information Management, or related field
- Six (6) or more years of Medical Services experience
- Previous Senior Coordinator, Credentialing Lead, Team Lead, or similar experience
- Hospital or health system experience
- Experience supporting Credentials Committee and Medical Executive Committee processes
- Experience with accreditation and regulatory surveys
- Multi-hospital or centralized credentialing/CVO experience
