About American Power Innovations American Power Innovations designs and builds custom-engineered electrical power distribution equipment for operations where uptime is not optional. Our Tulsa, Oklahoma plant produces power distribution centers (PDCs), motor control centers (MCCs), switch racks, low- and medium-voltage VFD skids, and custom PLC control panels — engineered, assembled, tested, and commissioned under one roof. The company carries more than 80 years of power distribution heritage. Formerly Layco Electric Innovations, we rebranded as American Power Innovations in 2025 to reflect a period of significant growth and to reinforce our commitment to American manufacturing and domestically sourced materials. Our customers span energy and utilities, data centers, chemical processing, defense, and municipal infrastructure — industries in which a single equipment failure carries real consequences. Our culture is built on four commitments: Customer First – Always, Our People – Our Power, Accountability for Self, and Collaboration at the Highest Level. We are a hands-on organization that values problem solvers, craftsmanship, and people who take ownership of the work in front of them.
Position SummaryThe FP&A Manager focuses on future-looking business strategy, corporate budgeting, financial modeling, and variance analysis rather than retrospective bookkeeping. This role bridges the gap between raw data and executive strategy by analyzing financial trends and partnering with business unit leaders.
Key Responsibilities• Budgeting and Planning: Lead the annual operating plan process, coordinating with department heads to build comprehensive, driver-based budgets.• Rolling Forecasting: Manage quarterly or monthly re-forecasts to adjust company expectations based on shifting market conditions and actual performance.• Variance Analysis: Compare actual financial results against budgeted targets, digging into root causes for deviations and presenting findings to executive leadership.• Financial Modeling: Build robust, scenario-based multi-year financial models to evaluate new business initiatives, capital expenditures, or operational changes.• Executive Reporting: Produce high-level performance dashboards, board decks, and management presentations that translate financial data into actionable business insights.
Qualifications To thrive in an FP&A position, candidates typically possess a distinct blend of technical and interpersonal capabilities:• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.• Experience: 2 to 6+ years of financial analysis or corporate finance experience.• Technical Mastery: Advanced Microsoft Excel capability (dynamic arrays, complex modeling, Power Query) alongside experience with Business Intelligence tools like Grow BI, Power BI or Tableau.• Business Acumen: Strong grasp of accounting fundamentals combined with the ability to tell a coherent story using financial data.• Experience challenging the status quo and transforming work processes.• A self-directed mindset with the motivation to question existing processes and reporting, identify gaps, and propose better ways of working.• Experience explaining complex results clearly and concisely using strong written and verbal communication skills. Schedule and Compensation This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule, working on-site in Tulsa, OK. American Power Innovations offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Benefits• 401(k) matching• Health insurance• Life insurance• Paid time off
