Accounting Specialist in MULBERRY, Florida at Safety Solutions & Supply, Inc

Safety Solutions & Supply is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position will take ownership of accounts payable while playing an important role in our broader accounting operations, including reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and month-end closing.

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of accounting, excellent computer skills, and the ability to work independently, solve problems, and improve processes. The ideal candidate is comfortable with technology, embraces new tools and automation, and is interested in growing into greater accounting responsibilities over time.

• Manage the full accounts payable process, including vendor invoices, payment preparation, statement reconciliations, and vendor communications.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor payment deadlines, and resolve vendor discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve AP procedures and efficiency.
• Perform bank, credit card, general ledger, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with established accounting procedures and approval requirements.
• Review general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing responsibilities.
• Review profit and loss statements and balance sheet accounts for accuracy.
• Investigate unusual transactions and financial variances.
• Assist with financial statement preparation, reporting, and analysis.
• Support management, outside accountants, and auditors with financial information and documentation.
• Utilize accounting software, spreadsheets, and other business systems to manage, reconcile, and analyze financial information.
• Leverage AI tools and automation to improve accounting workflows, efficiency, and accuracy while maintaining data confidentiality and appropriate verification.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve internal controls, and resolve discrepancies between business systems.
