About the Role

We're looking for an Order Prep Lead to serve as a key operational resource supporting the preparation, coordination, and processing of project work orders related to the handling, storage, and shipment of chemical compounds.

Working closely with site leadership, you'll help ensure project requirements, production activities, and daily workflows are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule. You'll also assist the Site Manager with oversight of production team activities, training, and day-to-day operational needs.

This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented person who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and wants to play a hands-on role in supporting team performance and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

Coordinate Project Orders

  • Prepare daily work orders and distribute assignments to appropriate team members
  • Coordinate activities associated with project orders from receipt through completion
  • Monitor project requirements, priorities, and deadlines to support timely and accurate completion of orders
  • Partner with the Operational Manager and Site Manager on project status, workflow needs, and issue resolution

Chemical Handling & Shipping

  • Receive, ship, store, and properly handle chemical compounds and related materials
  • Prepare shipping documentation, labels, and other required materials for outgoing shipments
  • Register and process incoming chemical compounds and materials in applicable systems
  • Process weigh order requests, including precisely measuring chemicals per established procedures
  • Perform tare weigh, weight capture, and gross weigh activities for applicable orders

Support Production Team Oversight

  • Assist the Site Manager with oversight and coordination of production team duties
  • Support the training and onboarding of new production team members
  • Provide work direction, mentoring, and guidance to production team members as assigned

Maintain Inventory & Workplace Standards

  • Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized inventory and operational systems
  • Identify workflow, inventory, or production concerns and escalate to site leadership as appropriate
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, including cleaning work areas and utensils, restocking supplies, and removing waste
  • Follow standard operating procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and established deadlines

Contribute to Continuous Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to production processes, workflow efficiency, quality, and safety

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have formal direct reports but provides direct and/or indirect operational oversight and guidance to production team members as assigned, including mentoring, training, and coordinating daily workflow. The Order Prep Lead partners with the Site Manager to address operational concerns and reinforce procedures; formal employee relations and disciplinary matters remain the responsibility of designated management in partnership with Human Resources.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
  • Knowledge of on-demand workflows in a laboratory, warehouse, production, or distribution environment preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and retain information related to projects and procedures
  • Experience with general laboratory/warehouse safety practices and chemical compliance preferred
  • Experience coordinating workflow, training employees, or providing operational guidance preferred
  • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or order management systems preferred

Working Environment

This is an onsite role in a laboratory and production/warehouse environment with moderate noise levels and frequent handling of chemicals and related materials. Appropriate PPE (lab coat, gloves, safety equipment, face protection) is required as applicable.

Employees must be able to stand, sit, communicate, and use hands/fingers for weighing and material-handling activities for extended periods; possess fine motor skills for handling chemicals, small containers, vials, and precision weighing equipment; have close vision suited to precision weighing tasks; and be able to safely lift/move materials weighing up to 50–75 pounds with appropriate assistance when required.
