This role provides proactive and consultative employee relations support within a large, integrated healthcare environment.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, guiding them through sensitive workplace matters with fairness, sound judgment, and a strong understanding of employment practices.
The position covers investigations, performance management, discipline, employee relations casework, and workforce actions across management-represented and union-represented employees.
As an embedded People Partner, you will help leaders prevent workplace issues, strengthen people practices, and navigate organizational change effectively.
You will work closely with HR, legal, labor relations, risk, and other people-focused teams to develop consistent, compliant, and employee-centered solutions.
Insights from employee relations cases, workforce trends, and listening activities will also help inform broader strategies, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced employee relations professional who can balance employee experience, business priorities, legal considerations, and organizational risk in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide proactive, consultative employee relations guidance to leaders and employees across a complex healthcare organization.
  • Serve as a trusted, neutral, and objective advisor when assessing and resolving sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Manage and support employee relations casework involving investigations, performance concerns, disciplinary actions, workplace conflicts, and other employment-related issues.
  • Conduct or support thorough workplace investigations, ensuring matters are handled objectively, consistently, and in accordance with organizational practices and applicable employment legislation.
  • Coach leaders through complex and sensitive employee situations, helping them make informed decisions while strengthening their day-to-day people management capabilities.
  • Advise leaders on performance management, corrective action, documentation, employee conduct, and other workplace matters.
  • Support both management-represented and union-represented employees while coordinating with appropriate labor relations partners when needed.
  • Help anticipate and prevent workplace issues by identifying patterns, emerging risks, and opportunities to improve people practices.
  • Partner closely with HR business partners, legal, labor relations, risk, and other human resources functions to achieve consistent, compliant, and employee-centered outcomes.
  • Support leaders and teams through organizational changes, workforce actions, and other people-related initiatives by translating broader people strategies into effective local practices.
  • Analyze employee relations case trends, workforce signals, and listening insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen leadership capability, inclusion, belonging, fairness, and respectful workplace practices.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation and communicate sensitive information appropriately to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple priorities and employee relations matters effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, organizational development, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 years of recent, relevant professional experience in employee relations or human resources.
  • Progressively responsible experience handling employee relations matters, including direct involvement in investigations, performance management, discipline, and casework.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations principles and applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach managers and leaders through complex, confidential, and sensitive employee situations.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to balance employee experience, organizational needs, business objectives, and employment-related risk.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear documentation and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess complex workplace situations and determine appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization and manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility and trust with employees, leaders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Commitment to inclusion, fairness, confidentiality, and respectful workplace practices.
  • Ability to work on site as required and participate in meetings and other workplace activities.
  • Candidates must live within the Northern California service footprint associated with the role; this is not a remote position.
