Job Description

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Women's Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, women's centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

Overview: We are looking for a Research Clinical Trial Startup Specialist. This individual manages and coordinates the clinical preparation for upcoming clinical trials within Ironwood Physicians, PC facilities. Required to have in-depth knowledge of protocol requirements and ensures that studies are properly prepared for enrollment in conformance with the protocol guidelines, departmental standards and good clinical practices as set forth by federal regulations and international guidelines. Will perform job duties and responsibilities in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating data and source documentation for upcoming studies.
  • Detailed review of each protocol to identify hidden requirements/procedures
  • Attends site initiation meetings as appropriate to obtain additional information regarding clinical trial requirements/procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring that required data entry for sponsor’s database (electronic data capture systems or paper CRFs) has an appropriate spot on source docs.
  • Ensures source documents are aligned with department standards and all federal regulations and international guidelines of good clinical practice.
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Research and research staff about study start up related issues
  • Develops screening/enrollment tools for research staff to utilize for recruitment (I/E cards for clinic staff)
  • Creates and maintains current enrolling study list for clinics
  • Communicates with Sponsor/CRO regarding vendors to be utilized by site for each study
  • Ensures research staff have access to all vendors for each study
  • Completes imaging surveys as required per each sponsor request
  • Responsible for completing radiology credentialing for each clinical trial
  • Maintain job related certifications (IATA, human subject protection training, GCP, and protocol specific required training).
  • Active in maintaining continued education and professional growth through participation in continuing education programs, obtaining CRC certification when eligible and joining a professional association such as SOCRA or ACRP.
  • Responsible for following departmental policies
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Excellent clinical and functional skills
    • Organized and detail oriented
    • Data entry experience a plus
    • Computer skills required (Microsoft office)
    • Strong communication and team building skills a must
    • Willing to travel between offices

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Clinical experience in Oncology or other acute care
    • Prior research experience
    • Current IATA, Human Subjects’ protection training or GCP training highly desirable

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    • Specialty certification such as CCRC preferred
