This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Carpentry Skilled Maintenance Technician based in Canada.
This hands-on maintenance role plays a key part in the upkeep, renovation, and continuous improvement of multi-family residential properties. You will be responsible for executing high-quality carpentry and general maintenance work across occupied and vacant units, ensuring homes are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The role combines technical craftsmanship with problem-solving in a fast-paced property management environment. You will work on a wide range of tasks, from framing and fixture installation to flooring and structural repairs. Collaboration with internal teams and external trades will be essential to delivering efficient, high-standard renovation projects. This position is ideal for a skilled trades professional who takes pride in detail, quality workmanship, and improving resident living conditions. You will also play a key role in supporting emergency repairs and maintaining operational readiness across multiple sites.
- Perform carpentry and general maintenance work across residential units, including renovations, repairs, and unit turns.
- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures such as walls, frameworks, cabinetry, doors, windows, and flooring systems.
- Read and interpret drawings, scopes of work, and technical instructions for renovation and maintenance projects.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
- Install and repair subflooring, vinyl flooring, LVT, drywall, and related building materials.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and replace damaged structural components and fixtures as required.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work orders across occupied and vacant units.
- Support minor electrical and plumbing tasks such as fixture replacement and basic repairs.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites at all times.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors (electricians, plumbers, and other trades).
- Respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with operational timelines and budgets.
- Proven experience in carpentry and residential maintenance or renovation work.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, construction methods, and building materials.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in maintenance and construction environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work scopes.
- Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with residents and team members.
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma and 5+ years of relevant work experience required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.
- WHMIS certification and familiarity with residential tenancy regulations considered an asset.
