Schedule: Full-time 40 hrs/wk Sunday – Thursday 6am – 2pm

The Arc of Greater Prince William / INSIGHT, Inc. is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Assistant Program Manager (APM) to join our Residential Services team.
Working under the supervision of the Program Manager and direction of the Director of Residential Services, the APM supports the daily operations of a residential group home serving adults with developmental disabilities. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines direct support with staff supervision, regulatory compliance, documentation oversight, and quality assurance while ensuring services are delivered in a person-centered manner.
What You'll Do
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of a residential group home and ensure compliance with Virginia DBHDS requirements and organizational policies.
- Assist with the supervision, coaching, and support of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to the Program Manager.
- Assist with staff scheduling and maintaining appropriate staffing coverage.
- Support the onboarding, training, and competency development of new employees.
- Ensure Individual Support Plans (ISPs) are properly implemented and monitor individuals' progress toward established outcomes.
- Review documentation in THERAP for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Assist with internal audits, inspections, corrective action plans, and other quality-assurance activities.
- Ensure incidents, injuries, and unusual occurrences are properly reported, documented, and followed up.
- Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Monitor staff compliance with safety and supervision requirements.
- Provide direct support to individuals as needed, including assistance with personal care, hygiene, daily living, and medical needs.
- Promote independence, dignity, individual choice, and meaningful community participation.
- Monitor medication administration practices and medication documentation for compliance with MAT requirements and physician orders.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure appropriate use of individual funds.
- Communicate household, maintenance, and safety concerns to appropriate leadership.
- Provide coverage at other residential program locations when needed.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in IDD services or a related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable THREE-YEAR driving record.
- Ability to safely operate an organizational vehicle, including a medium-sized bus and/or van.
- Ability to successfully complete required criminal background checks and health screenings.
- Ability to complete and maintain required DBHDS training and certifications, including CPR, First Aid, AED, and Medication Administration Training (MAT), if applicable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems, including THERAP.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, sound judgment, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and other members of the residential team.
Physical & Work Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform CPR/First Aid/AED, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, push, pull and reach, climb stairs, assist individuals as needed, and safely navigate residential and community environments.
