Position Summary:
Fusion is seeking Engineering Technicians to provide onsite technical oversight and quality-control support for major construction projects.
This field-based role includes inspecting work, evaluating contractor performance, documenting deficiencies, and verifying compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable standards. The Engineering Technician will work directly with engineers, contractors, government personnel, and other stakeholders to address concerns and support the successful completion of mission-critical projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience with large federal or Department of War construction projects and the ability to communicate technical concerns clearly, recommend practical solutions, and gain stakeholder support for necessary corrective action.
Security and Citizenship Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required due to customer and contract requirements
- Active Top Secret clearance required; Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility preferred
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the customer specific clearance and site access required for assigned duties
Key Responsibilities
Construction Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Conduct site inspections to evaluate construction activities, workmanship, materials, equipment, and site conditions, recommend improvements and oversee contractor execution
- Review work for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable engineering and safety standards
- Identify and document deficiencies and follow corrective actions through resolution
- Ensure projects comply with federal, DoW, and engineering standards for safety and performance
- Support the three-phase control quality management process to verify compliance at all project stages
Collaboration & Communication
- Build effective working relationships with engineers, contractors, government officials, customers, and other stakeholders to support project requirements and mission objectives
- Clearly and professionally explain technical findings and recommended corrective actions, helping stakeholders understand and support the proposed approach
- Develop and maintain technical reports, engineering documentation, and compliance records
- Participate in meetings, site briefings, and contract performance reviews, providing technical insight as needed
- Support the training and development of junior staff
Work Schedule, Physical Requirements & Work Environments
This is an exempt, field-based position performed at an active construction site. Although some work is completed in an onsite office trailer, employees may spend a significant portion of the workday within active construction areas. The position may also require additional hours or attention outside of a traditional 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule to support construction activities, project deadlines, customer requirements, or urgent matters. Flexibility and reasonable responsiveness to time-sensitive project needs are essential.
This role requires the ability to:

- Spend extended periods standing and walking, including on uneven terrain
- Navigate stairs, ladders, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Perform inspections from approved personnel lifts
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Work around high-voltage equipment, moving machinery, construction vehicles, dust, and moderate to high noise levels
- Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and move as needed to perform essential functions of this job
- Be able to life and carry up to 25 pounds
- Wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all Fusion, customer, and site-specific safety requirements

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and recent civilian or military experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Relevant military construction, engineering, facilities, or skilled trades experience, including U.S. Navy Seabee or comparable experience from any service branch. Candidates with these backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply
- Six years of experience preferred in engineering support, construction quality control, or infrastructure management
- Experience with DoW construction projects, military facilities, or government contracting preferred
- Active Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certification (Preferred)
- Strong knowledge of civil, mechanical, and electrical construction principles and facility system operations and maintenance
- Familiarity with federal construction regulations, NEC, OSHA, and safety compliance standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

The pay range for this role is:
110,000 - 135,000 USD per year(Washington, DC)
