Maintenance Worker (Streets Maint.) in Valdosta, Georgia at CITY OF VALDOSTA

This position performs street and drainage system maintenance and repair duties.

· Maintains and repairs ditches.

· Maintains catch basins and headwalls.

· Maintains and installs drainage pipes.

· Flags traffic at work sites.

· Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.

· Makes sidewalk and curb repairs.

· Repairs street water and sewer cuts.

· Installs road signs.

· Operates a backhoe, tamper, and other equipment.

· Operates a variety of hand and power tools

· Performs related duties.

· Knowledge of street and drainage system maintenance principles.

· Knowledge of the tools and equipments use in the repair and maintenance of city infrastructure.

· Knowledge of safe work practices.

· Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles equipment.

· Skill in the operation of hand and power tools.

· Skill in decision making and problem solving.

· Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

· Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.

· No experience requirements.

· Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
