About This Position
Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a non-profit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States. The organization began with a group of student and community activists in 1967, and was incorporated and received non-profit status in 1969 to fight discrimination against the Mexican American community. Inspired by Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, we advocated for equity in education, politics, and labor conditions. HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?
YOU will:
- Provide enterprise level financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for CPLC’s small business programs, including developing budgets and forecasts, advising senior management on funding strategies, and ensuring compliant financial stewardship of federal and corporate grants.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in evaluating alternatives, interpreting grant requirements, and recommending actions that impact program funding, allocations, and performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education/Background:

Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
2 years progressive finance experience in nonprofit or government funded programs.
Demonstrated experience making recommendations that influence budgets, allocations, and grant compliance decisions.
- Experience in non-profit is preferred.

Possess technical skills and ability to use various computer program applications e.g. Microsoft 365.
Knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Experience or ability to learn federal grant policies by various agencies.
- Lead monthly/quarterly forecasting cycles: design assumptions, evaluate scenarios, and recommend budget adjustments to program leadership and the CFO’s office.
- Advise senior management on grant compliance and financial risk (allowable costs, matching, indirect rates), and interpret federal agency guidance to establish internal controls and spending policies.
- Own grant billing schedules and approve drawdown packages; coordinate with Program Directors to resolve variances and authorize reallocations within policy limits.
- Develop financial models for new grant proposals; provide ROI and sustainability analysis to inform go/no‑go decisions.
- Set chart‑of‑accounts mapping, establish project IDs, and approve allocation methodologies (e.g., cost pools, time/effort distributions) to ensure GAAP and grant compliance.
- Present dashboards and narrative analyses to senior leadership; recommend corrective actions for performance and cash‑flow targets.
