PATIENT ACCOUNTING REP III in Poughkeepsie, New York at Westchester Medical Center

The Patient Accounting Representative III-Cashier reports to the Outpatient Supervisor and is responsible for the posting of all daily cash receipts for the organization. This includes receipts for all payers. Responsibility includes the daily reconciliation of all receipts and vouchers posted against the hospital system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Post all A/R payments, for specifically defined payers daily by 12pm. Knowledge of procedures related to patient valuables.
• Reconciles all cash, checks, credit cards and vouchers posted against hospital system to include Medicaid and Medicare electronic remit discrepancies.
• Researches and rectifies all cash posting. Maintains a zero balance at end of month.
• Prepares refunds as defined by Patient Accounting refund policy.
• Updates and initials all activity on Hospital system.
• Researches Physician billing check requests to include unapplied payments.
• Processing cash receipts from intra/interdepartmental to ensure accuracy.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. Provides assistance with the accounts receivable credits for patient accounting.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE

• Manual and computerized cash posting experience preferred.

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
