Family Triage Resident Support Specialist 2nd & 3rd shifts

Seasonal: December 1, 2025 to TBD

Columbus House opened its doors in 1982 to provide services for men and women at least 18 years of age. Our goals quickly broadened from the mere provision of food and shelter and simple survival, to understanding and working toward overcoming the problems which cause people to become homeless.

Columbus House, along with its core of loyal supporters, friends, and volunteers, has remained committed to fulfilling its mission: "To serve people experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk by providing life-saving outreach, shelter and housing and by fostering their personal growth and independence. We advocate for and create affordable housing to end homelessness in our communities."

Responsibilities

Provide residential supervision and oversight for the family triage residents. Assist in admission/discharge process; supervise chore assignments; monitor client behavior and interactions. Duties include hourly journal entries; supervision and logging of self-administered client medications, incident reporting, demographics, crisis intervention and other assignments as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience working with the homeless population, including those with substance abuse and mental health issues, is required. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential. Must have the ability to engage people from a variety of life backgrounds; able to employ Harm Reduction principles and understand Cultural Diversity principles. Ability to learn skills to perform in crisis intervention required. Ability to learn computer skills is required as is a basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Supervised by: Family Triage Coordinator

Pay Scale: $19.00/hr

Work Schedules:

  • Monday to Wednesday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Per Diem (3 positions): As needed
  • Sunday to Tuesday (2 positions): 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
  • Thursday to Sunday (2 positions): 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Wednesday to Saturday: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
