Registered Nurse - PACU at Crouse Hospital – Syracuse, New York

The PACU cares for patients recovering from anesthesia or IV conscious sedation post-surgical procedures, same day surgery admissions, patients requiring pre-operative pulmonary catheter placement and “pain management” patients requiring epidural catheter placement or pain blocks.

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital. This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties.

Job Requirements:

Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Minimum of one (1) year of PACU or critical care experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or within 6 weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within six (6) months of the hire date, if deemed necessary for the position based on the scope of the assigned role.

IF HIRED OR LICENSED AFTER 1/1/2017: MUST complete BSN (Bachelors in Nursing within 8 years of hire date into the Registered Nurse position)

Preferred: Certification in specialty area (ASPAN) desirable.
